Special Shabbat Tomorrow for Prayer and Solidarity with Israel

From Cantor Harriet...

"Friends, please join us this Friday evening at 7:00 pm for a special Shabbat dedicated to praying for the safety, healing and strength for the people of Israel and all Jews around the world, including ourselves.

"The horrific events in Israel that unfolded and continue to worsen since last Shabbat have shocked, saddened, angered and struck fear into us and into the hearts of Jews around the world. While are buoyed by the support of our friends, the time has come for us to gather with our TBC family to hold one another and lift our voices together in prayer and solidarity with Israel.

"Please show your support by attending and stay for an Israel themed Oneg following the service."

Wi-ACT’s Annual Rise Against Hunger Meal-Packaging Event

Saturday October 21

Wi-ACT’s (Wilton's Interfaith Action Committee) Rise Against Hunger meal-packaging event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the WEPCO Church Complex, 36 New Canaan Road, Wilton.

The meal-packaging work is in 2-hour shifts; so just go on the site and choose your shift: beginning at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Children as young as 7 can participate, and intergenerational family groups are welcome and very much encouraged!

In past years, TBC members of all ages have worked together to help pack tens of thousands of meals to distribute to impoverished people in a part of the world in most need. Past countries included Nicaragua, South Sudan, Senegal, the Philippines, and others. This year, we hope to package another 135,000 meals that can feed more than 350 children for an entire year. Hope to see you there!

Donations are always great to cover the cost of the meals. To donate, go to the TBC website and under Giving - scroll down to "donate now". Then choose the Tzedakah (Social Action) Fund and indicate it is for Rise Against Hunger.

Our 6th & 7th Grade Teacher, Morah Rica, owns a hair salon that has partnered with Wigs & Wishes to provide those who are losing their hair due to a cancer battle with free wigs. Morah Rica owns Yaffa Beauty by Rica, where she consults with cancer fighters to select a wig, and once it arrives, she styles it to suit, and will shave their hair (should they wish) in a way to make it a positive-as-possible and empowering experience. Along with the wig, she will often give a small care package, many of which we helped assemble last year.

Sadly, the demand for wigs has not slowed down, and Morah Rica is in need of more care packages, so this year, the TBC Religious School is going to collect the necessities, as well as send notes, for these brave men and women to bring them some refuah shleimah.

Please see the list of items needed here and leave them in the bin at TBC.

Please Share Your Simcha! TBC congregants are invited to share news of their family events and celebrations in Chailites. Please send your information to chailites@templebnaichaim.org.

TBC is Here For You!

If you or a family member is ill or in need of care - or if you know of someone in our community who needs help - please contact Cantor Harriet. Our Caring Committee is here to provide assistance - meals, rides to doctors' appointments or shopping.

It is traditional to light a memorial candle at home on the eve of the yahrzeit. You may also find it meaningful while kindling the yahrzeit candle to offer prayers of remembrance or reflect on your loved one’s life. Many also choose this time to make monetary donations in memory of loved ones

Yahrzeit Memorial Plaques

When remembering loved ones who have passed away, we invite you to commemorate their lives and blessings with a memorial plaque for the TBC wall of remembrance. Ordering information is available here.

A reminder that the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County schedules a variety of programs that TBC members will find interesting.
