CHAILITES

"Jews survived all the defeats, expulsions, persecutions and pogroms, the centuries in which they were regarded as a pariah people, even the Holocaust itself, because they never gave up the faith that one day they would be free to live as Jews without fear.” (Rabbi Jonathan Sacks)

October 15 Interfaith Vigil for Israel at TBC

The Interfaith Vigil for Israel, organized by TBC and the Wilton Clergy Association, drew more than 200 people to hear prayers, speeches, songs, as well as personal accounts by those affected by the war in Israel and Gaza. The Good Morning Wilton online newsletter did a great job of reporting on this in its October 16, issue, and included an excellent 18-image slide show that truly conveyed the diversity, dignity and intensity of the event. (Link to GMW article is here.) A complete video made available by TBC is well-worth watching and is available for viewing here.

Adult Hebrew Class in Session - Last Chance to Join!

From Ellie Gluck: Our new adult Hebrew class met for their first session this past Sunday, 10/22/23! We had a fabulous time learning our first Hebrew root word ש-ב-ת which means "rest." We learned each Hebrew letter that makes up this root word and practiced reading and writing them! If anyone wants to join in on the fun, please contact Morah Ellie at morahellie@templebnaichaim.org and she can catch you up in time for the next class!

Join us on Friday, November 17th at 5:30 PM for a pasta and salad, dinner, a special Shabbat service and delicious desserts as we welcome our newest families to our community. This wonderful evening also celebrates new students who take part in our Consecration ceremony and receive a personal Torah.

Needed now more than ever ... an evening of family warmth, spiritual renewal and the great tradition of gifting the Torah to the next generation. Click here to RSVP

Our 6th & 7th Grade Teacher, Morah Rica, owns a hair salon that has partnered with Wigs & Wishes to provide those who are losing their hair due to a cancer battle with free wigs. Morah Rica owns Yaffa Beauty by Rica, where she consults with cancer fighters to select a wig, and once it arrives, she styles it to suit, and will shave their hair (should they wish) in a way to make it a positive-as-possible and empowering experience. Along with the wig, she will often give a small care package, many of which we helped assemble last year.

Sadly, the demand for wigs has not slowed down, and Morah Rica is in need of more care packages, so this year, the TBC Religious School is going to collect the necessities, as well as send notes, for these brave men and women to bring them some refuah shleimah.

Please see the list of items needed here and leave them in the bin at TBC.

Please Share Your Simcha! TBC congregants are invited to share news of their family events and celebrations in Chailites. Please send your information to chailites@templebnaichaim.org.

TBC is Here For You!

If you or a family member is ill or in need of care - or if you know of someone in our community who needs help - please contact Cantor Harriet. Our Caring Committee is here to provide assistance - meals, rides to doctors' appointments or shopping.

It is traditional to light a memorial candle at home on the eve of the yahrzeit. You may also find it meaningful while kindling the yahrzeit candle to offer prayers of remembrance or reflect on your loved one’s life. Many also choose this time to make monetary donations in memory of loved ones

Yahrzeit Memorial Plaques

When remembering loved ones who have passed away, we invite you to commemorate their lives and blessings with a memorial plaque for the TBC wall of remembrance. Ordering information is available here.

A reminder that the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County schedules a variety of programs that TBC members will find interesting.
