Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting

November 30, 2021

The TBC Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Remember, to join this meeting you will need to register on ZOOM!

At Temple B'nai Chaim, there are two Congregational meetings each year, held in November and May. This is your opportunity to hear what's going on, vote on important issues, ask questions and get to know one another.

Please come participate in our community! A quorum of member families is required to conduct TBC business. Attendance will be taken on Zoom.

**Please make every effort to attend and participate in these critical conversations.**

Hanukkah Celebration

Shabbat and Candle Lighting

Friday, Dec. 3 - 6:30 pm

Please join us in person as we Light up the Night on Friday December 3 at 6:30 pm for our TBC Community-wide hanukkah Celebration Shabbat and hanukkah Lighting!

The partition separating the sanctuary and social hall will be open so there will be PLENTY of space for everyone! Bring your hanukkah (hanukkah Menorah) and 7 candles so you can help us light up the night! Our religious school students will be leading us in song, and a festive time is guaranteed for all!

This is a COMMUNITY-WIDE CELEBRATION and we want ALL our TBC Family to come. Sufganiyot (donuts) To GOneg will be generously provided by TBC’s Spectacular Sisterhood!!

Zooming Hanukkah Hoopla: Stories and Fun! (Zoom) Thursday, Dec. 2 - 4:15 to 5:00 pm

Join us on Zoom, alongside special guest Cantor Harriet Dunkerley from Temple B’nai Chaim, to learn all about the Festival of Lights. You will hear stories, sing songs, and get the opportunity to see a variety of menorahs. If you have a menorah at home, feel free to have it on hand to share. Registration required. Zoom link will be sent out by the day of the program. For children in grades kindergarten and up. Sponsored by the Wilton Library.

Torah Study

Saturday, Dec. 4 - 9:30 am

At last week's Torah Study the group agreed to study the text of Ani Maamin: A Song Lost and Found Again by Elie Wiesel. The discussion will be led by Pam Klem.

Ani Maamin, which Wiesel published in 1974, fell out of print almost immediately. It is structured as a play; begins with an indignant demand to God to account for grave injustice; and propels through a sort of divine courtroom proceeding, as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob appear in Heaven first to provide testimony and evidence about the horrors of what is happening to the Jews in the Holocaust, first to demand that God stop it; and if not that, at least explain it.

Understanding Adolescence

With Dr. Aaron Krasner

Tuesday, Dec. 7 - 6:30 pm

Dr. Aaron Krasner, a Board Certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, will speak via Zoom on Dec 7th at 6:30 pm on "Understanding Adolescence."

Your generosity will help Danbury residents in need stay warm this winter. The Dorothy Day Hospitality House has been providing meals and shelter to individuals since 1982. DDHH will distribute hats and gloves and mittens to guests who need them to get through the bitter Connecticut winter.

We are in need of several volunteers who would like to work with Cantor Harriet to learn how to lead a Friday night Shabbat Service! Prior experience with Hebrew or service leading is not required!

Genesis 37:1−40:23

Jacob is shown to favor his son Joseph, whom the other brothers resent. Joseph has dreams of grandeur. (Genesis 37:1-11)
After Joseph's brothers had gone to tend the flocks in Shechem, Jacob sends Joseph to report on them. The brothers decide against murdering Joseph but instead sell him into slavery. After he is shown Joseph's coat of many colors, which had been dipped in the blood of a kid, Jacob is led to believe that Joseph has been killed by a beast. (Genesis 37:12-35)
Tamar successively marries two of Judah's sons, each of whom dies. Judah does not permit her levirate marriage to his youngest son. She deceives Judah into impregnating her. (Genesis 38:1-30)
God is with Joseph in Egypt until the wife of his master, Potiphar, accuses him of rape, whereupon Joseph is imprisoned. (Genesis 39:1-40:23) Click here to learn more .

COVID-19 Protocols - Masks Required

TBC now requires anyone entering our building for any reason to wear a mask - regardless of vaccination status. Masks must cover the nose and mouth and remain on while in the building. The only exception to the mask requirement will be for fully vaccinated staff and clergy while in their offices and for clergy (not lay leaders) on the bimah.

We will continue to watch the infection rate closely and will keep you apprised of any changes. We thank you for your cooperation.
