TBC Time for Action Kickoff - This

Sunday December 11, 9:30 am

All TBC members are strongly encouraged to attend the introductory kick-off session of our “Year of Healing and Repair – A Time for Action.” We have invited speakers on antisemitism, CT Against Gun Violence (CAGV), and Planned Parenthood to participate in the event with us.

Your generosity will help Danbury residents in need stay warm this winter. The Dorothy Day Hospitality House has been providing meals and shelter to individuals since 1982. DDHH will distribute hats and gloves and mittens to guests who need them to get through the bitter Connecticut winter. Click here for full poster!

Handmade Kippot from Uganda

From Cantor Harriet: "I have received 90 gorgeous handmade kippot from the Luka Jewish Community in Mbale, Uganda! The community is struggling and in need of support to purchase food after suffering severe drought this summer followed by devastating floods. Up to 75 families in the village are only able to afford 1 meal a day. They are also in need of prayer books, specifically High Holiday Machzorim of which TBC has about 200 that are no longer in use.

"Please purchase one or more of these lovely kippot for $18 a piece so that we can use the proceeds to ship 100 Machzorim to the community and send the balance of the proceeds to purchase food! Please make checks payable to: Temple B'nai Chaim, with "TBC Social Action Fund-Ugandan Jewry" in the memo line. Additional donations are welcome through the TBC Social Action Fund on the TBC Donation Page with a note indicating "Ugandan Jewry" as the recipient.

Message from the Host

EVERYONE WELCOME: AN EVENING OF WINE, FOOD & GAMES

Dreidel played with gelt. Buy a bag (or two) of gelt when you come in and use the coins for the game. The rules of dreidel apply. Winners end up with handfuls of chocolate coins and the person with the most coins at the end wins a wonderful PRIZE. 

Adult Scavenger Hunt. The first team to collect all the items wins PRIZES. Among other things, items to be collected include:

• Someone whose cell phone wallpaper includes a Jewish Icon (star of David, tallit, yad, hamsah, kippa, etc) 

• Create a word puzzle (words that intersect) using lots of Hanukkah words like Maccabee and Hanukkah (spelled 4 ways)

• Build a menorah (school area is off limits) but anything in people's pockets can be used etc. (We provide glue or tape)

Kid Activities include a movie and a craft project. 

Food: Wine will be supplied by TBC.

Condolence Card - This card contains a message of condolence for those who have lost a loved one. $36 each, with the donation going to your choice of the Clergy Discretionary Fund or the Chesed/Caring Fund.

Mazel Tov Card - This card contains a message of congratulations for those celebrating a happy occasion. $54 each, with the donation going to the Operating Fund, Clergy Discretionary Fund, Religious School Fund, or the Tzedakah (social action) Fund.

Mi Shebeirach Card - This card contains a message of caring and support for someone struggling with illness or other challenges. $18 each, with the donation going to the Chesed/Caring Fund.

A reminder that the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County schedules a variety of programs that TBC members may find interesting.
