ADL's "The State of Hate in the U.S."

View and listen to the recording of the April 16 ADL Special Webinar for Jewish Communal Institutions and Kulanu Congregations (the link is here; the passcode is "goodfight24*" - note asterisk as last character). The discussion addresses ADL's newly-released, distressing Audit of Antisemitic Incidents 2023, which shows a 140% increase in hate incidents over 2022. The webinar also addresses the rise of incidents on college and university campuses around the country (up 300%) as well as incidents at non-Jewish K-12 Schools (up 135%). Speakers discuss ways in which ADL is trying to address and counter these trends.

Below are two ways ADL encourages congregation members to take action:

  1. Urge the Senate to Pass the Countering Antisemitism Act - Click here to take action.
  2. Demand University Leaders Take Action to Combat Antisemitism - Click here to select a school to email university leaders.

Finally, some good news from Connecticut: Last Wednesday, Ceci Maher led the State Senate's passage of legislation that aims to fight hate speech, as well as a bill to relieve pressure and stress on families with children experiencing mental health crisis. It is Senate Bill 327, "An Act Establishing A Task Force To Study The Effects Of Hate Speech and Bullying On Children."

Come out and honor our wonderful teachers!

It is traditional to light a memorial candle at home on the eve of the yahrzeit. You may also find it meaningful while kindling the yahrzeit candle to offer prayers of remembrance or reflect on your loved one’s life. Many also choose this time to make monetary donations in memory of loved ones

Yahrzeit Memorial Plaques

When remembering loved ones who have passed away, we invite you to commemorate their lives and blessings with a memorial plaque for the TBC wall of remembrance. Ordering information is available here.

A reminder that the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County schedules a variety of programs that TBC members will find interesting.
