Special Shabbat
Friday, September 3 at 7:00 pm
Please join us in person in our expanded sanctuary or on Zoom (register here) for a special Shabbat service this Friday. Our music and liturgy will help us turn inward in anticipation of the upcoming Rosh Hashanah Holiday.
As each of us undergoes our own spiritual preparation, our Sifrei Torah will also undergo a change as their covers are switched from brown to white, readying them for the coming Chaggim. We hope you can be with us….

COVID-19 Protocols - Masks Required
TBC now requires anyone entering our building for any reason to wear a mask - regardless of vaccination status. Masks must cover the nose and mouth and remain on while in the building. The only exception to the mask requirement will be for fully vaccinated staff and clergy while in their offices and for clergy (not lay leaders) on the bimah.
We will continue to watch the infection rate closely and will keep you apprised of any changes. We thank you for your cooperation.

High Holy Days 5782/2021
We are looking forward to seeing everyone - either in person or on Zoom - at our High Holy Day services which begin Monday September 6 this year. Tickets are in the mail for members in good standing. See full schedule and registration information in TBC Connections.
For Those Attending In Person

Registration will help us plan appropriate seating in the sanctuary and maintain a safe distance between family groups, It will also provide us with a list of attendees and their contact information, on the remote chance we need to do contact tracing. You must register to receive the link to attend virtual services. To register, TBC members in good standing click here.
- Access information will be emailed to all TBC members in good standing who have registered by September 3rd. If you register after that date, you may not receive your access information in time to participate in all services.
For Guests of Congregants

Friends and extended family of congregants may also request access to services by completing the Registration Form. Suggested donation amounts are $54 for one person; $180 for a family.

High Holy Days Giving
TBC incurs many additional expenses to create a warm and welcoming HHD experience. Please consider a contribution to help cover the costs of flowers and security - or to defray the numerous costs associated with the holiday celebrations. Use the contribution form here, and select the fund to indicate whether the donation is for the High Holy Days Appeal, flowers, security or to cover other High Holy Day expenses.

Michael Heft Food Drive,
Miriam Messe Diaper Collection
It is time once again for the food and diaper drive to help local food banks. The items will be delivered to the Redding Food Pantry, Wilton Food Pantry, the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury, and the Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut.
All of the pantries can use gift cards to grocery stores in addition to the items on the list. Personal care items are always in great need as well as toilet paper, paper towels and tissues. Coffee and juice boxes are needed for all pantries. Household cleaning products also. Lists will be distributed at Rosh Hashanah and items will be collected at Erev Yom Kippur, morning and family Yom Kippur services. Drivers will be needed after the second service to deliver to Wilton, Redding and Danbury. Please contact Jane Alexander at Jane@nodhill.net, 203-762-8605, to help or for questions.

Join us for Honey Havdalah Under the Stars
on Saturday September 11, at 6:45 pm
Please join us for the first of a series of community Havdalahs that TBC Sisterhood will be coordinating throughout the upcoming year. On Saturday, Sept. 11, we will celebrate the end of the Shabbat falling between our High Holy Days with a honey-tasting Havdalah and potluck.
The plan is to be COVID-cautious, outdoors under a tent, with heaters if necessary, in a congregant's home. Plan to bring a salad or dessert - and your favorite honey if you have one to share.

Community Softball Game
Attracted All Ages Within Our Community
We had a great morning on August 29th with a nice turn-out of all age groups. Thank yous to Ellie, who organized it all and actually made sure we played softball (so that we didn’t just yack the whole time, which could have happened too!). Thanks, as well, to Susan Farber for arranging the ice cream truck - which was a big hit.
There was a great vibe, and our new families seemed to circulate and meet new friends (a bunch of the girls got so close they even made a secret handshake, thanks to Lizzie who was a star socializer!).
Newer members who attended included Kera & David Rennert, Chloe & Jeremy Davis, Jan & Lisa de Bakker - all with their kids. Longer-term members included the Barenbergs, Feltons, Marceaus, Browns plus Alyssa Newman, Barbara Dobbin, Moses Alexander, Ria Miller and

Thank You to Those Who Helped Move the Bimah!
On Saturday, August 28th, a small contingent of very determined congregants helped to move the Bimah and set up the portable Ark in preparation for the High Holy Days. Young and older adults all worked together for this important annual endeavor. Thank you to everyone who pitched in.

Participate in Planning Adult Education Programming
Temple B'nai Chaim is organizing our adult education committee for the coming year. We would like to serve the interests of the broadest cross section of our members and are looking for religious school parents' participation on this committee. The work would involve one or two brainstorming sessions (on Zoom) and possible follow up to arrange for a program.

Wi-Act
Rise Against Hunger 2021 - Fundraising
Wi-Act is once again organizing a Rise Against Hunger event, and TBC is participating as we have for many years. The different faith institutions collect monetary donations to cover the cost of the food we package. RAH buys the supplies at a reduced rate needed for the meal packaging. Volunteers gather to package individual meals that get packed and brought back to RAH for distribution around the world. The date is October 23, 2021 to be held at the Wilton Episcopal Presbyterian Complex (WEPCO). We are asking members of Temple B’nai Chaim to please donate to the Tzedakah Fund designating RAH as the recipient. This is a wonderful event that brings the community together, something much needed after the last year. It will be done in a safe manner so that everyone feels comfortable.
