The Days of Awe are fast approaching! Prepare to celebrate, reflect, renew, and reconnect at TBC. Our Erev Rosh Hashanah service is September 25, followed by a festive oneg and special honey tasting!

Please don't forget to return your membership renewal package, if you haven't already, to make sure you receive your HHD tickets!

If you are planning to attend High Holiday services via zoom, Siddurim will be available for pickup on Saturday 9/17 from 11 until 1 or on Wednesday 9/21 for 10 until noon. Books must be returned by Oct 8. You can deposit the books into a box that will be provided for that purpose at the front entrance of the temple. For any books not returned by October 8, we will charge your account $50 to cover the cost of the books. 

Rosh Hashanah Honey!

As Rosh Hashanah approaches, it is time to send honey and sweet New Year greetings to your TBC friends and loved ones. The ordering deadline is September 18. Don't miss out on the opportunity! As in prior years, TBC members have multiple sponsorship levels for giving opportunities. Each sponsor level sends one jar of local honey to every TBC member family, clergy and staff: Super Bee Hive - $1,000; Chai Bee Hive - $540; B'nai Bee Hive - $360' Honey Bee Hive - $180. Alternatively you can give honey to particular congregants within TBC, or choose to reciprocate to those who send honey to you.

Baxter Barenberg's Bar Mitzvah Project!

"I am going to be doing my mitzvah project with an organization called DIG USA. DIG stands for Determination, Integrity, Growth. It’s an organization that I've been involved with since I was 7 years old - that is almost half my life! It started with one coach/ owner named Dan, who has created this organization to help the underserved communities in CT learn to play both chess and soccer, creating both sports and educational opportunities. After one of my first chess lessons my Mom told me I had just helped give a free lesson to a less fortunate kid in a town like Bridgeport. DIG works on the lesson for lesson model, providing free lessons for every paid lesson, creating opportunities for all. This made me feel great, and ever since I learned that, I realized how this small organization could really make a big impact in the lives of many. Read more about Baxter's mitzvah project!

Ava Rabinowitz's Bat Mitzvah Project!

“Hi, I’m Ava Rabinowitz, and for my Bat Mitzvah project, I decided to partner with Donate2Dance, an organization that helps provide dance equipment to communities in need.

"Dance has been an important part of my life and I would like to help other young dancers have the best dance experience possible regardless of their means.

We turn to a new season and an engaging year of Sisterhood programming on Sunday, September 18th, at 10:30 am, under the tent in the TBC Courtyard. Michael Heft Food Drive,

Miriam Messe Diaper Collection

It is time once again for the food and diaper drive to help local food banks. The items will be delivered to the Redding Food Pantry (Redding Food Pantry will only accept gift Cards - no food), Wilton Food Pantry, the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury, and the Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut.

All of the pantries can use gift cards to grocery stores in addition to the items on the list. Personal care items are always in great need as well as toilet paper, paper towels and tissues. Coffee and juice boxes are needed for all pantries. Household cleaning products also. Lists will be distributed at Rosh Hashanah and items will be collected at Erev Yom Kippur, morning and family Yom  Kippur services.  Drivers will be needed after the second service to deliver to Wilton, Redding and Danbury. Please contact Jane Alexander at Jane@nodhill.net, 203-943-5819, to sign up to help or drive or if you have questions.

 Please do not include items that are past the “best used by date”.

It is traditional to light a memorial candle at home on the eve of the yahrzeit. You may also find it meaningful while kindling the yahrzeit candle to offer prayers of remembrance or reflect on your loved one’s life. Many also choose this time to make monetary donations in memory of loved ones.
