Food and Diaper Drive

Special Sukkot Shabbat Service
Friday, September 24 at 6:00 pm
This Friday’s Service is a SUKKOT FESTIVAL SERVICE held outside in our courtyard in front of the Sukkah. It features a BYOT (Bring Your Oneg Treat) celebration in the Sukkah after the service. The service will be no longer than 1 hour so that we can enjoy a festive oneg together in and around the Sukkah. We will have our lulav and etrog available for all to participate in the mitzvah of waving the lulav and sitting in the Sukkah! Please help us create a beautiful Sukkot celebration by bringing a sweet or savory contribution to our potluck oneg!! Note the early service time of 6pm to take advantage of the daylight. Feel free to bring a sweet or savory treat. The service will also be available on Zoom (click here to join).

CHAG SUKKOT SAMEACH!! HAPPY SUKKOT!!
Five days after Yom Kippur we celebrate Sukkot, the Festival of Booths which began on Monday evening 9/20. Our beautiful TBC Sukkah was raised in our courtyard last Saturday by a dedicated group of volunteers. Please feel free to visit and fulfill the mitzvah of “dwelling in the Sukkah” by enjoying a snack or meal inside during the 7 days of Sukkot! To access the Sukkah if you visit when the building is closed, please walk around to the courtyard via the kitchen side of the building, behind the sanctuary. A table and chairs are set up in the Sukkah. Please plan to bring whatever you need to enjoy a meal or snack and carry your trash out with you! All are welcome to come and enjoy the Sukkah. The Sukkah is lit, and we recommend planning to finish up by 7pm when it is still light enough to walk safely back to the parking area. Be sure to take any trash with you.

Community Sukkot Open House and "Pizza in the Hut"
Sunday, September 26 -
11:30 am to 12:30 pm
Join us and invite family and friends to come along as we celebrate the joyous holiday of Sukkot.
Sukkot is one of the most joyful festivals on the Jewish calendar. “Sukkot,” a Hebrew word meaning "booths" or "huts," refers to the Jewish festival of giving thanks for the fall harvest.
We will learn about the holiday and have pizza in the Sukkah ("hut").

Simchat Torah Celebration
Wednesday, September 29 - 5:30 pm
Please join our TBC Religious School in the courtyard on Wednesday September 29th at 5:30pm in celebration of Simchat Torah. Our entire TBC Community is welcome to join us in learning about this joyful holiday - dance with the Torah and fulfill the Mitzvah of chanting the end of D’varim (Deuteronomy) and the beginning of B’reishit (Genesis) in one breath!!

COVID-19 Protocols - Masks Required
TBC now requires anyone entering our building for any reason to wear a mask - regardless of vaccination status. Masks must cover the nose and mouth and remain on while in the building. The only exception to the mask requirement will be for fully vaccinated staff and clergy while in their offices and for clergy (not lay leaders) on the bimah.
We will continue to watch the infection rate closely and will keep you apprised of any changes. We thank you for your cooperation.

Congregants are invited to participate in our first TBC Adult Education Committee meeting on ZOOM on Thursday, September 30 at 6:30 pm. The agenda will be to brainstorm ideas for Adult Ed at TBC for the coming year. If you cannot attend, forward your ideas to us. WiACT Collection for Afghan Refugees

WiACT (Wilton Interfaith Action Committee) is holding a collection this Saturday, September 25 at the Village Market in Wilton from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Jane Alexander is working the table from 9 am - 11 am. A list of the non-perishable food items will be available. Checks made out to IRIS are also welcome.

On the Shabbat during Sukkot, we are reminded of the age-old desire to know God. Moses implores God to let him see God. While God will not allow Moses to see God’s face, God tells Moses, “I will make My goodness pass before you…” Perhaps we experience the divine presence through the goodness we create in the world. The Torah then sets forth the thirteen attributes of God, among them that God is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger and abounding in kindness.
