Dear Chance Community,

Our community has a rich history of enthusiastically supporting our two annual development drives, Challenge for Chance and the Spring Gala. We will be trying something new this year, and we're counting on your support for another successful year of giving.

Q)What is changing?

A)Great question. This year we are participating in Give for Good Louisville. This is a day when many nonprofit organizations in Louisville connect with donors to meet their development goals. This will replace Challenge for Chance and help us maximize giving through matching and further community reach through Give for Good

Q)How does Give for Good Louisville work?

A) On September 15, 2022, we will start our fundraising at midnight and end at 11:59 PM. You can make your donation by clicking this linkThroughout the day, we will email you and text to let you know about matching gifts and prizes. We will also be sharing posts on Instagram and Facebook that you can repost to your social media networks or copy and share via email with our unique link: Give for Good

Unlike other fundraisers, Give for Good Louisville awards prizes and incentives to organizations throughout the giving day, thanks to contributions from generous community partners. By making a gift online at Give For Good, your donation may be selected to be boosted by $1,000 or more, and we can earn bonus funds across various prize categories.

Q)What is our fund development goal?

A)Since we are combining our Mary Maple and Challenge for Chance fund drives, we have the ambitious goal of raising $300,000. We would also like to expand our circle of supporters to include 300 unique donations and a 100% Chance community participation. We can do this!

Q)What do the proceeds go toward supporting?

A)We are asking for donations to the financial aid fund for Virginia Chance School. For most families, investing in an independent school education requires careful financial planning, but for some, planning isn't enough to make Chance a reality for their child.

Families that come to us for their children find great value in the Virginia Chance School educational experience by the unique way we foster lifelong learners and develop children. Virginia Chance School offers tuition assistance at the elementary level. We want to ensure that a Virginia Chance School elementary education is accessible to students from all backgrounds, regardless of their financial resources. Having children attend from all socioeconomic backgrounds helps support an environment where children learn best, in the company of others who challenge their assumptions and offer different perspectives.

A Virginia Chance School education is valuable and sought after. We desire to help provide that education to children who are accepted into Virginia Chance School and can demonstrate the need for financial assistance. Any Chance family unable to attend for economic reasons is encouraged to apply. They are applying to receive the funds you will donate here and our future students, and we appreciate your commitment to excellence in education for all students.

Q)Why are we changing?

A)We would like to minimize our fund development ask window and make giving simple, convenient, and fun. By partnering with Give for Good Louisville, we will have access to their matching funds and prize pool. This is also an opportunity to expand our circle of support by connecting with our families, social networks, and companies who may also hear our story and support Virginia Chance School.

Q)How can I help?

Celebrate! Our Give for Good picnic is on September 15. This will also serve as our Grandparents Day and Special Friends Day. Parents, grandparents, and special friends are welcome to our Give for Good Family Picnic. Bring a brown bag lunch and join your student on campus for a lunchtime picnic. I will welcome families under the big tent to detail the Give for Good goals for the day, and then you will join your student for lunch. A dessert/treat truck will be available for purchase after lunch.

Preschool

10:45 Arrival and welcome under the tent

11:00-12:00 picnic lunch

Elementary

12:15 Arrival and welcome under the tent

12:30-1:30 picnic lunch

All parking will be in the lower parking lot field.

This is a rain or shine event. Like our last picnic, you may want to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Also, remember to bring a picnic lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Champion! Be a Chance Champion and Cheerleader by reading texts and emails we will send, sharing the posts on social media, and telling your own VCS story. Please reshare any of our posts to your friends and family.

Give! Give to Virginia Chance School on this day. Use this link, Give for Good to make your gift to VCS.

Q)What if we don't meet our goal?

A)If we fall short of our goal, we will have a mini Challenge for Chance starting November 18 and continuing through December 31, 2022. Hopefully, with your participation, we will not need this!

Q)What about the Spring Gala?

A)We will still have a fun spring Greenhouse Gala - details coming soon. Our fund development efforts at that event will be called Fund-a-Need. We'll share our plans for expanding the learning areas of our campus and furthering our outdoor learning program, but more about that later.

Q)What if I want to learn more? Here's how!

A)Hope is a powerful feeling that motivates and transforms a community for the better. Give for Good Louisville instills that hope by uniting tens of thousands of individuals every September to give generously at Give for Goodhttps://www.giveforgoodlouisville.org/organizations/virginia-chance-school-inc

We have a chance to be a part of this online day of giving - an opportunity to unite our community around causes in which we truly believe and help organizations like VCS connect to new supporters. But we can't do it alone.

Join our giving day campaign and help us reach our goal of $300K, 300 donors, and 100% VCS participation. Learn about the different ways you can get involved hereJoin us on September 15, 2022, by making a meaningful gift to Give for Good
