CDA Walking Challenge 
Wellness for the Entire Team!

Get ready to lace up your walking shoes and go all in with us for the next 6 weeks as we Walk 4 Wellness! The CDA's staff will be moving in the right direction each week with you and your team. It's been said that every great journey begins with the first step. In this case, it's literally true. Research indicates that a regular routine that includes physical exercise like walking provides a wealth of benefits.

Workplace Wellness Walking Challenge

How about a little office challenge to inspire healthy habits? In this challenge, participants will work to accumulate at least 150 minutes of walking for exercise each week.

In addition, you and your team will complete one brief reflection activity that ties to a specific topic. The weekly reflection activities are:
Week 1: Walking 4 Your Body
Week 2: Walking 4 Your Mind
Week 3: Walking 4 Your Career and Finances
Week 4: Walking 4 Heart and Spirit
Week 5: Living Well
Week 6: Putting It Together

Before starting, please take some time to review the wellness challenge information and materials below. Assign someone in the office to be the challenge coordinator. Everything that you and your team will need to successfully complete Walking 4 Wellness is included below.
Tracking the Challenge

Follow these steps to track your progress in Walking 4 Wellness:
  • Log the number of minutes you walk for exercise each day during the appropriate week on the Weekly Walking Log. Please note that activities of daily living like going to the grocery store, moving around the dental practice, cleaning the house, etc. do not count toward your daily total. Only walking for exercise should be recorded.
  • At the beginning of each week, read the educational resource in the Making Connections resource packet that is specific to that week's topic. At the end of each week, review the material again and complete the Connection Exercise. 
  • At the end of EACH week's challenge, have your challenge coordinator submit a photo or scan of your practice's Weekly Walking Logs for all team members who are participating to Elisa Llodra at Offices that participate will be entered into the weekly prize drawing. 
  • Keep your Making Connections resource pages and use them as a guide to establish a regular walking routine.
All practices that submit a photo or scan of their Weekly Walking Logs will be entered into a weekly prize drawing. Prizes include yoga mats, wellness kits, team apparel and more! Completed tracking logs need to be submitted to by the end of business each Friday to be eligible for a chance to win (prize drawings will be held on Monday mornings).
