How to Do Strategic Planning Like a Futurist
by Amy Webb

You Don't Need a Time Line; You Need a Time Cone.

Futurists think about time differently. For any given uncertainty about the future, we tend to think in the short- and long-term simultaneously. To do this, I use a framework that measures certainty and charts actions into cones with four distinct categories: (1) tactics, (2) strategy, (3) vision, and (4) systems-level evolution.

You must be willing to accept more uncertainty as you continually recalibrate your organization's vision for the future. It cannot include every detail, because there are still many unknowns. In the vision category, we formulate actions based on how the executive leadership will pursue research, where it will make investments, and how it will develop the workforce it will someday need.

Maximizing Your Investment Dollars
Why just buy advertising when there is so much more you can do to develop your company's brand?

Advertising is great, but public relations and community affairs build relationships. Sponsoring events and programs through the Longview Chamber of Commerce includes all three branding strategies in one effective multifaceted strategy.

Sponsoring these events and programs gives your company the publicity and brand recognition you need in a positive and receptive environment. Business leaders recognize and appreciate companies that help them gain knowledge and make important contacts.
The 2019 Total Resource Campaign (TRC) is kicking off soon. The Campaign will run until November 6.   Click here for more on TRC!
