Chamber Advantage

Hello and Happy Holidays to all my fellow Chamber Members!

This is Dan Mahoney from Insperity, HR/ Payroll and Benefits Solutions… a very proud member, sponsor, and board member of the Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce.

The holiday season is once again upon us, and in full swing. As usual this means we, as a business community, are all looking to end our year on a high note! After all, business is business, and for the vast majority of us, this time of year is where we do the bulk of it.

Whether that means packing our restaurants, selling our services and our wares, or making that last big fund-raising push, we give it all we’ve got, all so we can finish strong and hit the ground running again in 2025. All very, very important stuff. That all said… As I have been given the privilege of being the author of this message, I would like to ask all of you a very small favor. Regardless of if you are having a tough year, or a great one, whether you are a spiritual person or not… I would just like everyone to stop what you are doing for just a moment, take a nice deep breath, and remind yourselves of all of the blessings that have already been bestowed on you this year.

When you do this, I am sure you will find (as I did) that there were many. I would then like you to think of someone you might know who has been less fortunate than you, whose holidays may not be as joyous and full of family, friendship or cheer. Then seek them out and go out of your way to show them a kindness, no matter how big or small, in whatever form it might take. Whether it is a small financial contribution, a shoulder to cry on, a hug, a conversation, holding a door open with a smile on your face, or simply making someone a sandwich.

Believe me when I tell you that when you do that, it will not only make that person feel great, but if it’s done with a genuine sense of compassion and love, it will make YOU feel even better knowing that you were able to bring a ray of light into another person’s life when they needed it the most. If we all do more of that, I am certain, it will lift them, you and eventually the community at large to an entirely new level, bringing happiness, peace and continued success to us all.

On behalf of myself and the entire board and staff of the Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce, we wish you, your employees and all your families, peace, love, happiness and prosperity both this holiday season and into the new year!!

Happy Holidays to you all!

Best,

Dan Mahoney
