Chamber Advantage

August 6th, 2023

I can't be the only one who feels like this summer went by in a flash... did July actually happen? As we transition into August, I am looking forward to savoring those last few moments of summer. Whether on a patio with friends, exploring the community, or watching the bustling scene from outside my office window overlooking Oak Park Ave, I can't help but notice how our community's beauty becomes infinitely more vibrant when the sun is shimmering through the streets. So, let's make the most of it and get outside to enjoy those precious last drops of summertime shine.

On the occasion of the one-year anniversary for the Climate Ready community climate and sustainability plan, join Marcella Bondie Keenan, Chief Sustainability Officer of the Village of Oak Park, and Community Partners for conversations to answer these three questions:

  • Where are we today on climate as a community? What climate, sustainability, and equity actions have we--individually and collectively--taken over the past year?
  • Where do we want to go in the next year?
  • How do we get there in a climate-just way?

Each discussion table will have a facilitator and recorder. Afterwards, the Village will publish a brief report celebrating our collective progress over the past year, and community strategies for moving forward in the next year. This event is hosted by Oak Park’s Office of Sustainability, Oak Park Public Library, Climate Ready Community Outreach to Oak Park, One Earth Local and other community groups.

The in-person event is August 7th, but there’s also a “digital café” at engageoakpark.com.
