The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce is the voice for business in Springfield and Sangamon County and has an obligation to its members to represent their interests to all levels of government and to the public. The Chamber supports laws and ordinances that encourage entrepreneurship, development, job creation and investment. The Chamber opposes public policy that creates unnecessary regulation and/or burden on the business community that will hamper the creation of new jobs and wealth.
Senate Bill 3052
The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce believes Senate Bill 3052 may be of concern to you as a business person and Chamber member. While SB 3052 is related to “retainage” provisions in commercial and large residential real estate construction contracts, as your Chamber of Commerce, we believe the larger issue is one of precedent. We believe two private businesses should be able to enter into a mutually agreed upon contract that satisfies both parties without the government dictating terms of the contract. 

As referenced in The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce Policy Agenda, we oppose public policy that creates unnecessary regulation and/or overly burdensome regulation on the business community. SB 3052 passed both houses and awaits the Governor's signature.
