Major Wins for San Jose’s Sports & Entertainment Economy | | |
Break out your teal!
Last Tuesday, City Council unanimously approved a landmark 25-year agreement with Sharks Sports & Entertainment, securing the Sharks’ long-term home at SAP Center and reaffirming their role as a cornerstone of our downtown. This agreement ensures critical investment in modernizing one of the nation’s oldest arenas while keeping it active year-round with games, concerts, and major events.
Venues like SAP Center fuel our economy, build civic pride with our hometown team, and enliven the streets of downtown San Jose. The Chamber was proud to advocate for this agreement and celebrate the Sharks as a centerpiece of our growing sports and entertainment economy.
A big thank you to the Sharks, City Council, City staff, and our partners for championing San Jose!
| | Chamber Supports Action on Blight | | The San Jose Chamber applauds the City Council for increasing fines on blighted properties—raising daily penalties to $20,000 and total fines to $500,000, with exceptions. The Chamber has advocated for this change over the past year as part of its work to strengthen the business climate. Stronger enforcement will help revitalize neighborhoods, attract investment, and support long-term economic growth. | | August 22, 2025 | Silicon Valley Business Journal | LINK HERE | | August 27, 2025 | The Mercury News | LINK HERE | | August 28, 2025 | The Mercury News | LINK HERE | | |
