Morning Brew provides access to intentional networking to share your business's message with business and community leaders.
In business, it IS who you know. However, for many, the term networking leads to anxiety and stress. But, it doesn’t have to! At February's WE Lead: I Hate Networking, you’ll hear from Leadership & Life Purpose Coach, Christine Kennedy who has built and cultivated a strong network that has led to enriching friendships, strategic alliances and fulfilling work projects through her role as COO of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance

During her tenure at the Alliance, Kennedy has launched several initiatives and regional business programs and she oversees the organization’s strategy development as well as operations. She is the recipient of the National Preceptor Award for innovative and impactful leadership from the Community Leadership Association.

She is a gifted & inspirational facilitator and frequently shares her facilitation skills to local, state and national organizations for workshops and retreats in the areas of leadership, life balance, strategic planning and management.

Kennedy currently serves on the US Chamber Board of Regents, the VA Chamber Board of Directors and Lynchburg's regional Workforce Development Board.
There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.

EXCITE is a week-long summer professional development program placing middle and high school educators in business settings in order to connect the classroom to the workplace. Educators will spend one or two days at each company, visiting between two and four businesses over four days. The fifth day will include a debrief meeting with the program coordinator and peers to discuss lessons learned and ideas for classroom implementation.  There is no cost to employers to participate.

The goal is to equip teachers with answers to the “why do I need to know this” question and create relevancy within the standard curriculum based on real-life experiences provided by industry. Counselors can use the experience to connect students to careers and develop networks that expand work-based learning experiences for students.

Employer responsibilities include:
  • hosting at least two teachers for a one or two-day experience
  • providing an overview of the company including job opportunities and facility tour
  • reviewing the recruitment process, including requirements for employment and desired skills
  • providing shadowing experiences for teachers, preferably with hands-on experiences
  • identifying opportunities to design real-world examples and problems that teachers could integrate into their curriculum

Employers are being recruited to participate in the summer 2019 program,
which will run June 17-21 and July 15-19.
