Kitsap's Housing Market Expanding - Is It Enough?
Published in the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal, April 28, 2022

For much of 2022 and 2021, home values have grown aggressively across Kitsap, often between 1.5 to 2 percent monthly. To put that in perspective, if home values grow at 2 percent every month, that translates to an annual increase of 26.8 percent. That’s according to Skylar Olsen, principal economist for financial technology startup Tomo, who spoke recently at KEDA on the subject. The pattern is clear: Across Greater Seattle, suburbs like Kitsap have been in high demand throughout the pandemic.

“It is still a boon, it feels like, to acknowledge and recognize that the appeal of our wonderful place is not lost on anyone else,” Olsen said at the KEDA annual meeting as the featured speaker. “Kitsap county in general is remaining an incredibly attractive place for people to move. That’s a lot of what home price signals end up telling us.”

It's Not too Late to Utilize Mother's Day for Business
Mother’s Day is an ideal way to honor the women in your life who have helped you become the person you are today. In recent years, it has surpassed the celebration of one’s own mother and encompassed grandmothers, women we think of as second mothers, mother-in-laws, fur moms, best friends, and even female mentors. Mother’s Day is also a great way to honor women in our world who have made a difference.

Broadening the definition of mother also allows for a more inclusive celebration on a day that can, for some, be a sad occasion. While everyone may not have a mother living or a good relationship with one who is, everyone has a special woman in their lives who they can celebrate.

Mother’s Day can now be transformed into a time to honor those women who have nurtured us and helped us grow, whether they gave birth to us or not. Keep that in mind in your marketing.

Training Buddies for New Hires Can Improve Safety
Published by the Washington Retail Association's Retail Association Services

Managing a business has become increasingly complex, providing adequate safety training support for new employees may have become less of a business priority, which helps explain this upward trend of claims involving new hires.

Finding adequate time to orientate new employees properly is a common problem. New employee orientations usually have a lot of ground to cover, including lots of paperwork and quick overviews of policies in short amounts of time. However, the education process can be ongoing using orientation buddies.
