PARTNER WITH GCPS
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am Gene Schoeck, the Work-Based Learning Coordinator for Gloucester County Public Schools. My goal is to provide students that are enrolled in one of our Career Technical Education programs with a High-Quality Work-Based Learning opportunity to support and enhance their learning experience. In order to provide Internships, Apprenticeships, and Entrepreneurship opportunities, I rely on business partnerships in the community.
I am inviting businesses to create a partnership with GCPS. While I have many business partners already, I know there are many others missing out on the opportunity to help our youth maintain their roots here in Gloucester County. If businesses cannot support those experiences, we also welcome them to be guest speakers, mock interview participants, and attend our career expos and job fairs.
In addition to providing those opportunities, we need members for our CTE Advisory Council. The mission of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Council at Gloucester County Public Schools is to support and enhance the quality and relevance of CTE programs by fostering strong partnerships between education, industry, and the community. The council provides guidance to ensure students are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and experiences necessary to succeed in postsecondary education and the workforce. We currently need to rebuild our business partner membership, as we rely on current industry professionals to provide us with the relevant guidance. We meet quarterly and our first meeting was November 5th. Remaining meetings are February 11, 2026 & May 13, 2026.
Although CTE is my priority, I also work hard to ensure all GHS students have employment, and I would also be glad to help any businesses fill their vacancies with students that are ready to learn a new career. In addition to the many students looking for after school jobs, there are many graduating in January that will be seeking full time employment.
