News from the Executive Director
I was thinking back to my April newsletter when I was mentioning/complaining about the lousy, cold, miserable and damp weather we were enjoying back them. Well, we wished for summer weather and boy oh boy did July ever deliver the heat!!!! The hottest month of July on record. I think it best going forward I leave weather forecasting and complaining to others.
Another successful “Breakfast Club” gathering at Brothers again this month. Attendance was back up after the holiday and a lot of new faces along with requests for more “Breakfast Club” coffee mugs! It’s always great to see such positive networking and socialization taking place in a very welcoming and friendly environment. Be sure to mark your calendar for the first Thursday of every month so you join us and add yourself into the conversation.
Our session on the very important “Paid Family & Medical Leave Act” was very well attended and the information provided was invaluable. The session was so informative and interesting that the group in attendance requested that the Chamber host a second educational session closer to the actual implementation deadline for the purpose of garnering as much insight and information as possible. Consequently, the Chamber reached back out to the Massachusetts Department of Family and Medical Leave requesting a second session, which was met with a positive response. So I am pleased to confirm that we are currently in the process of working with the Massachusetts Department of Family and Medical leave for another session in September. A well-deserved “thank you” to Mr. William Alpine, Director of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Family and Medical Leave for agreeing to come back and lead a second session. So don’t miss this second opportunity to learn how and if this law will affect you and your business. Stay tuned for more details in the near future.
