News from the Executive Director

As usual we kicked the month off with our monthly “Breakfast Club” gathering at Brothers. The conversations and the interaction among the attendees was lively and lighted-hearted. It was great to see Chief Skory and Deputy Chief Calabrese from Wakefield PD join us and add to the conversation. The numbers and diversity of the group continues to grow monthly as friendships are renewed and strengthened, while new ones continue to develop. I was asked about our “Breakfast Club” coffee mugs and I promise we will have them for the November breakfast. So be sure to mark your calendar for the first Thursday of every month.
Maria DiStefano, North East Regional Director, Massachusetts Office of Small Business Development began her monthly visits again. Her schedule was booked solid for the day as Chamber members took advantage of the opportunity to listen to her free and confidential counseling. Maria’s wealth of experience and numerous industry contacts are hard to replicate elsewhere, so please take advantage of this free informational activity. Her next scheduled date here in Wakefield is Thursday, October 24 between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Contact the Chamber of for details.
On Wednesday, September 25 th we had a packed house at the Four Points Sheraton for our Paid Family and Medical Leave seminar. This new legislation impacts every business in the Commonwealth and the session was very informative and enlightening. Hopefully everyone has taken the time educate yourself and prepare for the new responsibilities you have as a business owner. Once again, thank you to Mr. William Alpine, Director for the Massachusetts Department of Family and Medical leave for his presentation to our Chamber members.
