Encinitas Council Decides on Districting Map 
The City of Encinitas has created their new district lines while making sure to create "the least amount of displacement". Officials say they made this minor change to even out the districts, but residents should not feel a significant shift.

San Diego Botanical Gardens Launches Access Afternoons
SDNEDC-Investor the San Diego Botanical Garden in Encinitas has launched their new program "access afternoon". This program is to bring new visitors to the garden and was supported by a generous grant from the Institute of Museums and Libraries .

Free Internships Available to Businesses at MiraCosta College Technology Career Institute
TCI offers accelerated, hands-on courses that give students the technical skills, human development, and work-based experience needed to secure living wage employment in their chosen field. We believe that a skilled, educated workforce requires the collaboration of the primary stakeholders in the ecosystem: the students; the colleges who train them; and the employers, with their multitude of workforce needs. This internship model plays a central role in that collaboration, starting with you, our industry partner.
SBDC Microbusiness Grant Program
The County of San Diego is providing Microbusiness COVID-19 Relief Grants
 
This program provides grants of $2,500 to microbusiness owners who were in operation in 2019, still in operation today, and were impacted by the Covid-19 public health restrictions.
To be eligible you need to have:
  • Been in business on or before December 1, 2019 and still in business in 2022.
  • Have gross revenue under $50,000 (as reported for 2019). 
  • Demonstrated decline in revenue or service demand due to COVID-19 in 2020 or 2021 as compared to 2019.
  • Operating within the County of San Diego.
  • The business was the primary source of revenue for the business owner.
  • Not have received other sources of COVID relief such as a grant from a city, the state, or a forgiven PPP loan.
Many sole proprietors in industries such as hair styling, auto repair, consulting or similar service-based businesses may meet these criteria.

California Rebuilding Fund

Small Business Stimulus Grant
If you are a small business or nonprofit entity (20 employees or less) that suffered economic losses due to COVID-19, you may be eligible for a small business grant from the San Diego County.

Small Business Digital Alliance Publishes Library of Free Digital Tools from National Members, Fortune 500 Companies Available to Small Businesses
Today, the Small Business Digital Alliance (SBDA), a new public-private co-sponsorship between the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Business Forward, Inc., published a comprehensive suite of free resources to help small businesses expand their customer base, manage their growth, find and retain talent, and enter new markets. These resources are being provided by some of America’s most respected leaders in business, government, economic development, and other aligned spaces. The SBDA previously announced its first slate of events and national members, including: Amazon, Comcast, Google, Meta, PayPal, Principal Financial Group, Square (Block, Inc.), TriNet, Venmo, Verizon, Visa, and ZenBusiness. Since launching, the SBDA has brought on LinkedIn and Microsoft as national members.
