The Coast News is excited join Herman Cook VW and Road Runner Sports as sponsors for the upcoming Moonlight Beach Half Marathon and 5K. Brought to you by Excelarace, producers of the popular Encinitas Turkey Trot, the Moonlight Beach Half Marathon makes it’s debut on Sunday, March 20th. The event starts and ends at Moonlight Beach and runs past the iconic boat-houses, Swami’s beach, and along over 8 miles of Pacific Ocean views.
“We have been looking for ways to better engage with the community and inspire locals to participate in healthy activities,” said Chris Kydd, Associate Publisher of the Coast News. “We saw an opportunity to help promote the event to our 150,000 plus local readers and decided it was time invest in the health of the community and success of this inaugural event that also benefits local charities. Plus it’s great fun for my family and co-workers who will be out to run or walk in the 5K this year.”
As event sponsors, the Coast News has a special promo code worth 50% off enrollment in the half marathon or 5K. Chamber members are welcome to use the code “Coast50” at check out as long as they enroll by March 13th. Over 2,000 runners are expected this year between the half marathon and 5K. Participants are welcome to run the 5K race course twice to get a 10K time recorded.

Art Night at the Off Track Gallery, March 12, 2022, from 5:30 to 8:30pm.
The public is invited to a reception at the Off Track Gallery featuring the artwork of Charlene Meeker, the whimsical ceramics of Sue DeWulf, and the fused glass of Jonathan Rosenberg.
“Art Night Encinitas was conceived by the Commission for the Arts to bring focus to our civic art galleries and thriving visual art scene,” said Commission for the Arts Chair Collette Murphy.
The bi-monthly art open house benefits artists through the sale of their art and provides the public an opportunity to interact with artists and learn about the creative process.
All artwork that is currently in the Off Track Gallery will be on sale for 10% off all day Saturday, March 12, from 10 am until closing.
The Off Track Gallery is owned and operated by the San Dieguito Art Guild, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization made up of over 200 talented local artists.

If you are a small business or nonprofit entity (20 employees or less) that suffered economic losses due to COVID-19, you may be eligible for a small business grant from the San Diego County.
