Trevor McPherson, Vice President - Member Services of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce was in town to meet with a few of us from the region for our input on how the OCC can serve its membership better. They are embarking on a Relevancy, Engagement, Value (REVup) approach - meaningful to all of us, and we had a great conversation about how we appreciate their work

but messaging is sometimes focused on larger businesses. In rural Eastern Ontario, we work to make their message relevant to our members and communities. It also reminded me how important this voice is at the Board table as I embark on my second year as a Chamber network representative.

The BDIA office was the place to be last week - first, the significant announcement made regarding the OATC's move out of Downtown to the former Medigas building on South Church St. has business owners feeling relieved. After the significant investment in the infrastructure for Belleville's downtown, Mayor Panciuk and City Council have been actively engaged in setting the stage for residential, commercial and retail investment as the next phase of revitalization. Second, the BDIA named Marijo Cuerrier as the successful candidate to the new full-time role of Executive Director. As the BDIA is working through developing their own strategic plan, there are many hopeful all this activity and positive energy will help to serve the community as a whole with a vibrant downtown at its core.
