Week of July 29, 2019

My view this week from Orlando - because it just didn't seem to be warm enough at home... and we're still in the midst of the basement cleanup (thanks to Winmar for their help the past couple of weeks).

While I'm taking a few days vacation this week, I did want to reach out to those of you who may be in the office with a couple of quick updates/reminders.

We have our Member Appreciation Mingle coming up on August 14th and I was just able to confirm a special guest will be able to join us! We have been recognizing our Cornerstone award recipients at the President's Dinner the past couple of years but one of them wasn't available to attend this year - so we're excited to present the Citizenship Award at our August 14th event. I hope you'll join us to hear their story - how they've embraced and made a positive impact in our community over the past 25 years. Our mingles are always a great opportunity to check out a different business space and we're fortunate to have Crate Marine hosting this one - we'll be right on the water in their new lounge area overlooking the Bay.  

And our other major event of the year is coming up on Tuesday, September 17th! We moved our annual golf tournament out of the busy spring tournament season into September and switched up the format to allow for either a scramble or a competitive round where you can play your own ball. Thanks to Vision Transportation for coming on as our title sponsor this year and welcome to Winmar coming on board as a hole sponsor for the first time... thanks to Shorelines Casino, Microage, Starboard Communications, McDougall's Insurance and META Employment for coming back - but there are many opportunities still available to demonstrate your support and pride of membership. We are also looking for prizes so if you have something you'd like to contribute in kind, every bit helps!

While engaging in person is often the best means of connecting with another individual, becoming a member of the Chamber's Member's Group on Facebook is another option. This is a public group, which allows the entire community to see the posts however only members are eligible to post about their business. These posts could include good news stories or promotions from your business. Simply share a post from your business' page to the group (so no extra work) and have the potential to reach a wider audience and receive support from your fellow members as they learn about you & your business.
