We’re Bringing Back Chamber Chatter!

You may have noticed a name change in this edition—our newsletter is officially returning to its original name, Chamber Chatter!

We made this change to bring a breath of fresh air back into the life of our newsletter. While Beyond Business served us for a time, it felt a bit too limiting. Our newsletter is about more than just business—it’s about community, connection, and keeping you informed on what’s happening in and around Prince George.

Chamber Chatter just feels right, and we’re excited to carry it forward.

A Note from Neil

Hello and Hadih.

The history of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce is deeply intertwined with the history of Prince George itself.

The Fort George Board of Trade was founded in 1911, four years before the City of Prince George was incorporated. Those founders of what became the Prince George Chamber of Commerce were just like you. They believed in themselves and they believed in this community. They believed that the members of a strong business association working together are in the community building business. Then and now, no one’s business can succeed unless we’re building a community that’s good for everyone.

The president of the Chamber a century ago - in 1924 and 1925 - was Peter Wilson. He moved here in 1914 and opened up the law office that became Wilson King, where he practiced law for 46 years. Peter Wilson was the one who drew up the legal documents to incorporate the City of Prince George and he served as the city’s first solicitor.

Returning to the present day, we’re all writing Prince George’s history together right now, as the leaders of this city and as members of this Chamber of Commerce.

We made some more history at our Annual General Meeting on April 23. Some dated language in our bylaws stated that the mayor or a justice of the peace could swear in our board of directors. To continue our evolving partnership with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, the members present unanimously approved changing the bylaw to read that either the mayor or the LTFN chief could swear in Chamber directors.

And moments later, history was made, as Lheidli T’enneh Chief Dolleen Logan swore in the executive council – President Kristine Newell, Vice President Finance Nik Tusek, Vice President Donna Flood, Vice President Tanner Moulton, and Past President Cathy Mackay – along with new directors Sydney Redpath, Pardeep Hans, and Alison Fuhr.

And after the AGM, we announced that the Chamber office will be moving later this year, from our current location sharing space with the Prince George Community Foundation and Northern Innovation Network, to two doors down to occupy the ground floor of the Community Futures building. We’re excited to have a larger, more accessible space to serve existing and new members, as well as the rest of the community.

Let’s keep building our community and make more history together. All the best to you and your business,

Neil

Annual General Meeting Recap

Our 2025 Annual General Meeting, held on April 23rd, was full of exciting updates and milestones!

We proudly welcomed our 2025–2026 Executive team: Donna Flood, Tanner Moulton, Nik Tusek, and our new President, Kristine Newell, along with our newly elected Board members: Sydney Redpath, Pardeep Singh Hans, Alison Fuhr, and Anjula Benjamin.

Following the elections, we successfully passed two bylaw changes — including a new amendment allowing the current Chief of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation to swear in our Board of Directors. We were honoured to have Chief Dolleen Logan join us to officially swear in both our new Executive and Directors.

To close out the event, we shared some exciting news — the Chamber is moving! We’re excited to be relocating just down the street to the first floor of the Community Futures building. This move will give us a front-facing office once again, and we can’t wait to welcome you into our new space.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this important and memorable AGM!
