Broadcasting Workshop & Downtown Businesses
Hello, my name is Karen Johnson, and I am the broadcasting and yearbook adviser at Kearney High School.
I am planning a training workshop for our broadcasting leadership students Aug. 7 (Wednesday) and 8 (Thursday). It involves some time in the classroom reviewing and practicing technique, but then we would like to go out to the Kearney downtown area and search for a story to tell about a business, film footage, interview people and then come back to the classroom to edit the final package. A couple of years ago, we participated in a workshop like this at Lee's Summit and had a great experience. It's a nice opportunity and experience for the businesses and business owners as well, as they receive a copy of the video package when it's completed and get the opportunity to interact with and see what these high school students can do.
Please Note: KHS broadcasting students may be coming into businesses on the square, and in the surrounding walking area, requesting to do a story on these businesses during the afternoon of Wednesday, August 7. If this would be an absolute inconvenience, or you are not interested, please email me in advance at johnsonk@ksdr1.net and let me know, we will make sure we don't bother you.
Please let me know if you have questions or concerns. We are looking forward to this learning experience!
KSD Families are welcome to “shop” for school supplies and gently-used clothing at the Back to School Resource Fair August 8 & 9 . The Fair is geared toward helping families prepare for going back to school.
