The Chamber staff and board of directors, want to extend our sincere sympathy to the Boutain family on the death of Hunter. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they go through this difficult time.
We are also aware that this has been hard on our community, resorts, and businesses as well. This is a very unfortunate and rare event. We have a beautiful lake and many things to do in Glenwood and Pope County.

Library offers free trip to Minneapolis Institute of Arts - Everyone is is invited to hop on a coach bus at the Glenwood Public Library, kick back,and enjoy the free ride to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts on Saturday, July 18th. The Glenwood American Legion Post 187 Bingo will be held at the America Legion building on Hwy 55 every Monday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Club hours are Monday through Saturday, 4:00 p.m.-close. Open NASCAR Sundays 2-5 p.m. The public is welcome.

Pope County Famiilies in Need fundraiser set for this Thursday. A fundraiser for Pope County Families in Need will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at the Lions Shelter at Barsness Park in Glenwood. The event is a free activity for people bring used clothing, personal hygiene items such as soaps, towels, etc. to be donated to Pope County Famileis in Need. Clothing must be in good, clean condition. Items for children are also welcome. Monetary donations will also be accepted. More information in this week's Pope County Tribune.
Quilt Show and Lecture at the Pope County Museum, Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. "A Stitch in Time Saves..." at the Pope County Museum, 809 South Lakeshore Drive, Glewood, MN.

Terrace Mill Children's Theatre
to Present Romeo and Harriet
July 15 & 16 at 6:30 p.m.
More than 30 young people will hit the Terrace Mill Stage on July 15 and 16 to perform Romeo and Harriet a funny spoof of Romeo and Juliet billed as "a musical tragical comedy" in two and half acts under the direction of Julie and Lucy Lloyd.
The Terrace Mill Children's Theatre invites the community to kick back and laugh with Romeo & Harriet.
Glenwood Retirement Village Open House and Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social, Sunday, July 19th...
An open house celebrating the new and renovated areas of the facility will be held July 19 from 2:00-4:00 p.m in conjunction with the Glenwood Retirement Village Auxiliary's annual pie and ice cream social. A short program will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the new town center, including a dedication and blessing.

Central Square to host
GHS All-School Reunion...
Coinciding with Waterama's 60th anniversary, Central Square Cultural & Civic Center in Glenwood is opening its doors wide to host a Glenwood High School all-school reuion. All GHS classes, family, friends, members and guest of the community are welcome at the event, which will be held July 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central Square-the former Glenwood High School.
Food, free entertainment and prizes are all on the docket, including wine and beer garden, pig rost, live music by the Everett Smithson Band, school tours and more.
At 4:00 p.m. an all-school reunion photo will be taken on the steps of Central Square or the historic auditorium, depending on the weather. Photo memory books from the day will also be available to order.
No preregistration is needed; registration will be onsite at the reunion.

The Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce announces an opportunity for you to sing for your City. Glenwood will be part of the Minnesota Sings Vocal Competition sending one local voice to the State Finals in St. Paul on September 27th.
A selection competition will be held at the Central Square Cultural & Civic Center on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Singers must be between the ages of 15 and 25 and live or work in Glenwood or attend Minnewaska Area High School.
You bring your favorite song track to sing to, and the top voice will be chosen to represent Glenwood in the finals where cash prizes are over 5 thousand dollars. The first place state winner will also receive a check for 1,000 dollars to present to their favorite local charity.
Don't let this musical opportunity pass you by.

August 10th marks the start of the fall varsity sports season. If your student needs an athletic exam this year, don't delay.
