Meet the Big Cheese: Alan Sorrell Wins Mactoberfest 2025!
The Caroline County Chamber of Commerce hosted its 7th Annual Mactoberfest on October 25 at the Chesapeake Culinary Center, and it was a celebration of creativity, flavor, and community spirit!
Nine talented chefs competed for the coveted Big Cheese title and a $1,000 cash prize, serving up 12 incredible mac and cheese variations—from buffalo chicken and smoked brisket to seafood mac and more. Guests sampled each dish and cast their votes old-school style, dropping chips into jars sponsored by Woo Hoo Productions.
This year’s event was another success thanks to the Chesapeake Culinary Center, whose staff and beautiful space make Mactoberfest unforgettable. VIP tickets sold out again, offering guests exclusive perks like massages from Michele, Wade-One L InnerPrize Wellness, cucumber water, music, cooking demos by Chef David Murray, their own private stash of mac and cheese and bar service.
We also featured an amazing lineup of vendors, plus a Kelly Distributors beer wagon and Red Light Liquors, adding beer and wine to the cheesy fun!
In the end, Alan Sorrell, sponsored by Towers Concrete, claimed the Big Cheese title for the second time—first winning in 2020 while at Chesapeake Culinary Center, and now with his own team from Portside Grille Caterers.
Congratulations, Alan, on this incredible achievement!
Thank you to everyone who attended and to all who made this event possible.
We hope to see you again next year!
Thank you to the chefs Portside Grille Caterers, Odriews Private Chef Service, Chesapeake Culinary featuring the CCTC culinary students, Chef David Murray, GMK Catering, Holy Smoke BBQ, Chef Keith Blake and Caroline's in Denton for competing, their sponsors and the event sponsors.
