Frankfort Public Library District offers a variety of programs each month. Here are some of the upcoming offerings.

Nonfiction at Night on Mon. Sep. 12 at 7pm. Join us to discuss Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law by Mary Roach. What's to be done about a jaywalking moose? A bear caught breaking and entering? A murderous tree? Three hundred years ago, animals that broke the law would be assigned legal representation and put on trial. These days, as New York Times best-selling author Mary Roach discovers, the answers are best found not in jurisprudence but in science: the curious science of human-wildlife conflict, a discipline at the crossroads of human behavior and wildlife biology. Please note: Print copies of this title are available at the Library's Circulation Desk. This book is also available as an eBook through Overdrive/Libby and Axis 360 with your library card.

Illinois Libraries Present: A Conversation with Marlee Matlin: From Oscar to West Wing and Beyond on Wed. Sep. 14 at 7pm. In celebration of Deaf Awareness Month, Marlee Matlin joins Illinois Libraries Present to share the highs and lows of her Hollywood career and journeys as an activist. The youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar, Matlin's acting career recently achieved another milestone as her 2021 film CODA swept every category it was nominated in at the 2022 Academy Awards. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events. ILP is funded in part by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library, a department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act. Movie Morning on Fri. Sep. 16 at 10am. Our next film is classified as a musical romantic drama. If that sounds good to you and you happen to be a fan of actor Peter Dinklage, then please join us for Movie Morning at the library!

Beyond L2: How the James Webb Space Telescope Sparked a New Golden Age in Astronomy on Tue. Sep. 20 at 7pm. Join us for a special talk about the history of space-based observatories from the 1960s leading up to the James Webb Space Telescope presented by NASA Solar System Ambassador, Dr. Voula Saridakis. Dr. Saridakis will also speak about the latest images captured by the JWST, the most powerful space telescope to date. Her talk will conclude with thoughts on the future of space telescopes.
