Leaders Luncheon was Informative and well attended
Our annual event was first titled "Tri-Communities" for a number of years, and later transitioned to "Heritage Communities," while this year we named it "Leaders Luncheon."

We were fortunate to have Mayor Michael Taylor of Sterling Heights, Mayor Jackie Noonan of Utica, and Supervisor Richard Stathakis of Shelby Township as our featured guests, and this year we were delighted to add another of our important leaders, Utica Schools Superintendent Dr. Christine Johns, to our Q & A forum that was moderated by Chamber Chairperson of the Board, Terri Giampetroni, of Legal Strategies, PC.

This was the first year in many that we were without the wisdom, humor and presence of Sterling Heights long-serving Mayor Richard Notte, and his absence and contributions were noted on more than one occasion. May he indeed Rest in Peace.

The food was good, the ambiance very nice with a great Cherry Creek view of a "Currier & Ives" snowfall outdoors, and the crowd's mood was upbeat. All this together with the true "Words of Wisdom" from our Leaders made for a pleasant and enlightening gathering.

Macomb's Business Showcase is back!
Back by popular demand, is our Business Showcase Expo. The fun-filled event will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 at the Sterling Inn Banquet and Conference Center and is open to the public. There will be a Technology Hub, Wellness Row, Taste of the Community, Education Hub and B.R.A.G. (Business Networking) Corner, all with the idea of having something for everyone, no matter what their particular area of interest. The Sterling Heights Community Foundation and its associates are offering another record number of scholarships this spring totaling $35,000 for college bound high school seniors and current college students living in Sterling Heights and Macomb County. The application deadline is Friday, March 13. John Martin, Shelby TV, and his staff provided videography and a sound technician/system that made this a truly professional program.

First "After 5" of the year held at Rojo Mexican Bistro a success!
On a snowy, blustery evening Rojo served up hospitality, Hors d'oeuvres and beverages to a whole lot of Chamber members and guests who seemed to really enjoy the first official networking
 event of the New Year.

Our hardworking Chamber Ambassadors serve as Guests Host/Hostesses at these popular events and Nancy Mashni, M.A.M. Enterprises and John Winter, Winter's International, volunteered their services for this one. They're assisted by Ambassador Coordinator and Community and Professional Relationships Manager Linda Colton, and a good time was had by all. Hopefully some new connections were made, some older ones re-connected, and we'll see them all again at future Chamber events.
