The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce is inviting input from local job seekers, employees, and businesses asking for their insights about strengths and challenges in the local labour force as well as their priorities for workforce skills and training.

Residents and businesses in the City of Grande PrairieCounty of Grande PrairieMD of Greenview, Hythe, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, Wembley, Fox Creek, Valleyview, Horse Lake First Nation, Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, and Grande Cache Co-ops and Enterprises are urged to participate.

Two surveys will run until October 31, 2020. They are part of a Labour Market Needs Assessment led by the Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the three municipalities and Alberta Labour and Immigration.

NOTICE OF 2020 CHAMBER AGM AND CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR 2021 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce 2020 Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 3. (Format TBD)

The meeting will include a review of our activities in 2020 and election of our 2021 Board of Directors.

Completed nomination forms must be received by the Chamber office prior to 12:00 PM on Friday, November 20 to be considered by the Nomination Committee.
The Alberta Chambers of Commerce network has launched a series of three short surveys to identify the top barriers and opportunities for business in their communities – the first one focused on local red tape.

The second survey is now live and focuses on municipal business supports, including:
  • Business assistance and funding
  • Sustaining and growing businesses


The ACC will launch the final survey focusing on business opportunities on October 19 during Small Business Week.

Respondents who join the Alberta Perspectives insight community after completing any of the three surveys will be entered to WIN one of three Apple Watch prize giveaways.

As we continue to move through 2020 so many businesses have been affected by COVID-19 and our ever changing economic landscape. Grant Berg, Grant Berg Gallery
Grant Berg is an artist and small business owner of two art galleries in Alberta. The gallery in Grande Prairie opened 4.5 years ago, representing over 50 artists and Kananaskis now open 3.5 years representing 10 artists. Originally in the broadcast industry for 29 years, Grant transitioned into the arts full time in 2016 after being the Board Chair for the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie during its construction and sitting on the Premier's Council for Culture under four Alberta Premier's. Grant recently ran in the 2019 provincial election and is set to launch a series of three self published books this November.
