What local barriers are holding your business back?

The Alberta Chambers of Commerce network has launched the first of three short surveys to identify the top barriers and opportunities for business in their communities – this first one focuses on local red tape and takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

The ACC will launch the next survey (business supports) on October 12, and the final survey (business opportunities) on October 19 during Small Business Week.

Respondents who join the Alberta Perspectives insight community after completing any of the three surveys will be entered to WIN one of three Apple Watch prize giveaways.
Evergreen Park is pleased to offer a Thanksgiving Dinner Takeaway meal this year on Sunday Oct 11. Each meal will feed 4 people, and features a smoked half turkey, purchased from a local supplier. To order a meal, please respond to this email, or you can place your order online at www.evergreenpark.ca. **Please note, this meal is pick up only. Delivery is not available.
The third ATB Build Her Business campaign, a unique crowdfunding initiative designed to encourage more women entrepreneurs to use rewards-based crowdfunding as a funding option to start and grow their business, launches this February.

Last year thirty-three women entrepreneurs from across Alberta, representing a diverse range of industries from healthcare software to fashion, food and retail to an indigenous co-working space, launched their campaigns with the goal of raising their funding goal
through ATB’s crowdfunding platform, ATB BoostR

The key to success in rewards-based crowdfunding is through consumers - like you - known as “the crowd” who invest small amounts of money into businesses and ideas in return for a reward. The crowd buys rewards as a way to invest in local businesses to help entrepreneurs reach their funding goal. In return, investors receive rewards - products, services or experiences that are of value to them from the entrepreneur they’re supporting.

Through ATB BoostR, entrepreneurs describe their business idea and fundraising goal. The entrepreneurs then campaign and look to the crowd to buy rewards. For example, a jewelry designer looking for funds to support expansion into a physical location might reward everyone who contributes $100 with an original piece of jewelry. Or a new restaurant may reward everyone who contributes $50 with a VIP ticket to their opening event. The rewards are unique to each business. If the entrepreneur meets their goal, funds are released to the entrepreneur and the investor receives the reward. If a campaign doesn't meet its goal, there is no exchange of money or rewards.

What can you do to help?
  • Encourage women in business to attend our webinar
  • Oct 8, 2020 at 12pm.
  • Visit ATBBoostR.ca between February 1 and March 8 to view the campaigns.
  • Encourage fellow Albertans to buy rewards and support women-led businesses.
  • Spread the word! Support the businesses through your social networks. Follow the hashtag #BuildHerBusiness so we can deepen the conversation throughout the province and promote their campaigns.

Why support BoostR?
Local business is vital to our economy. Your support of a BoostR campaign is not a loan or donation. It is a source of revenue the business needs to grow.

Thank you for your support. It’s partners like you that help us further our ability to support women entrepreneurs in Alberta. Let's help Build Her Business together!

GRANDE PRAIRIE, A WELCOMING AND DYNAMIC DIVERSITY!
French Translation and Employment Services Centre

L’Association Canadienne Française de Grande Prairie, (ACFA), is pleased to inform our members, community and all our partners of the reopening of our French Translation and Employment Assistance Centre.

In April 2020, following the interruption of funding for our program by the Government of Alberta, the Grande Prairie ACFA was forced to discontinue its community services to the Francophone community.

As a result of a funding agreement under the Francophone Economic Development Funds for Western Canada (FDSÉFO) and under the tutelage of the Alberta Economic Development Council (Le CDEA), ACFA Grande Prairie will be able to offer a Translation and Employment Assistance Services as part of the project - Grande Prairie, A Welcoming & Dynamic Diversity!

These services include among other objectives: Resume designs, French-English translation of driver's license or other documents, use of computers, printing and fax, labour market information in our area and services offered in our City or County, information on English courses and more…

This is an excellent news that would deserve a celebration on our premises but given the health situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, this celebration will be postponed to a later date.

Nevertheless, we invite all our clients and community members in need of our services to contact us at the: 780-532-6335 or by email at emploi.grandeprairie@acfa.ab.ca.

Our Francophone Centre will now open be Monday to Thursday from 8:30 AM to 4 PM. The office will remain closed on Fridays
