The City of San Marcos is now accepting applications for the 2026 UniverCity cohort, beginning on March 10. "UniverCity" offers residents a behind-the-scenes look at City Hall and the opportunity to learn how local government works and how to get involved.

This free, 8-week program features weekly evening sessions highlighting City departments and the services they provide. Dinner is included, and there is no cost to participate.

Apply by March 2, 2026. Accepted applicants will be notified by email on March 3, with classes starting March 10.

Through the LIFT (Learning and Insights for Forward Traction) accelerator, Texas State 

University’s SCALEUP initiative is equipping small business leaders with practical digital marketing skills grounded in research and applied learning. The program’s outcomes highlight the role of structured, university-led training in supporting entrepreneurship and economic growth.
