HR In a Box Workshop

We continue our mission to bring great educational opportunities to the Drumheller area business community with an upcoming workshop that will be very valuable for any business owners, managers, HR professionals, team leads, or anyone interested in workforce strategies to improve their organization.

WHEN: Thursday, November 22. 8:30am-12:00pm.

HR expert Landis Jackson will present two exciting topics:
  • Attraction/Recruitment and Selection - strategies that deliver the right mix of attraction, selection, recruitment, and onboarding, and
  • Identifying Team Retention & Leadership Strategies- learn to to create an engaged workplace that conjures up positivity and creativity.

  • The Badlands Amphitheatre received an Alberta Tourism (ALTO) Award for their DrumBeats show

  • Valley Plaza merchants, the Mayor and councillors held a wonderful Mayor's Pumpkin Carving Event

Message from the Executive Director

As we turn the page of our calendars, there are a few dates to note for November. The DDCC’s fiscal year end is November 30, and it marks a time to review the past year and begin making plans for 2019 and beyond. The DDCC Board of Directors and staff will be working on our Strategic Plan this week and budgets will be reviewed by the Board later this month.

Also, as part of our year end, the World’s Largest Dinosaur Giftshop and Visitor Information Centre (VIC) will be closed on Thursday, November 29 and Friday, November 30 for our annual inventory count. If you require assistance during this time, please call or email our office. Regular hours (10am to 5:30pm daily) for the Giftshop and VIC will resume on Saturday, December 1.

A friendly reminder that the Business Advocacy Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 12pm in the Chamber Board Room. If there are issues affecting your business, we encourage you to bring them forward at our meetings. It is the goal of the committee to work with members to identify issues or barriers to growth and to develop strategies through which to address and resolve the identified issues and barriers. On behalf of the committee, we hope to see you on Wednesday, November 7 at 12pm!

Be sure to mark your calendars for the morning of Thursday, November 22. We are hosting our last educational session of 2018 with the HR in a Box program. Human Resources expert, Landis Jackson will lead a 2-part session with the following topics: “Attraction/Recruitment and Selection” and “Identifying Team Retention and Leadership Strategies.” The session will run from 8:30am-12pm at the Canalta Cretaceous Conference Centre and the cost is only $20 for members. Advance registration is required please.

Radon Challenge
