Oakdale City Council Candidate Forum: Insights & Highlights

We recently hosted our City Council Candidate Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 8th, giving the Oakdale community an opportunity to hear directly from the individuals running for City Council. The forum provided valuable insights into each candidate’s vision and the important issues facing Oakdale.

Moderated by our Board President, Allison Schwartz, the forum touched on a range of key topics, including public safety, economic development, infrastructure improvements, and housing solutions. The candidates also discussed the future of downtown Oakdale and how they plan to foster a stronger sense of community while addressing the needs of local businesses.

A special thank you goes to Allison for her expert moderation, and to the city staff team for their unwavering support in facilitating the event. Their behind-the-scenes efforts helped ensure everything ran smoothly.

The Oakdale Chamber of Commerce does not endorse any single candidate, but we are honored to offer this platform for our community to engage with those running for office. It’s crucial for citizens to have the chance to ask questions and hear directly from candidates on local matters that impact us all.

OHS Scholarship Night - 10/15

On October 15th, Oakdale Chamber participated in OHS Scholarship Night, an event dedicated to educating students about local scholarship opportunities and how to apply for them. Students and families gathered to learn about the various scholarships available through local businesses and organizations, including application tips and deadlines. This event plays a vital role in helping students access valuable financial support for their educational pursuits, empowering them to take the next step in their academic careers. We’re proud to be part of this important initiative for Oakdale’s future leaders!

It’s the perfect time to shop, dine, explore local treasures, and soak up the holiday magic! Whether you're searching for the perfect gift or just looking to enjoy the festive vibes, let’s make Thursday nights unforgettable with some After Hours magic and local love. See you downtown!

Window Decorating Contest

Businesses of 95361—Love Oakdale will be helping to bring some extra holiday cheer to our town with a Christmas Window Decorating Contest, as part of Oakdale’s A Small Town Christmas!

✨ Prepare to show off your best festive displays, and let’s make the season sparkle! ✨

To enter, fill out the form in linked here by November 20th. We’ll share the list of participants and the community will have a chance to vote from Nov. 22 - Dec. 6.

Winners will be announced at the Small Town Christmas Tree Lighting on December 7!

Oakdale Lions Club Children's Christmas Shopping Tour

Through this program, Lions Club members and community volunteers help over 200 local children enjoy a holiday shopping experience. Selected children receive gift cards for to ensure they have essentials. This initiative reflects the club's dedication to supporting youth and providing families with holiday cheer during the season of giving.

Additionally, the Lions Club actively participates in other community and youth-focused programs, including scholarships for high school students and various initiatives supporting local events and needs, making their impact felt year-round.
