Members - Join us for our next Member Meet & Mingle!
Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Light Consulting from 4 - 6pm
This is your opportunity to connect with fellow Chamber members in a casual, fun atmosphere. Whether you’re a small business owner, part of a large organization, new to the Chamber or a longtime member, this event is for you - and for all employees of Chamber member businesses. This event is free, registration required.
| | Register Now | Coffee & Community | | |
Wednesday, October 7th
8:00AM – 9:00AM at the Becker County Museum
Homelessness may not always be visible in our community - but its impact is felt across our schools, workplaces, healthcare system, public services and local economy.
Join us for the next Coffee & Community with our panel, Meagan Hernandez, Family Development Director with MAHUBE-OTWA Community Action Partnership; Ally Hefta, LSW, Homeless School Liaison with Detroit Lakes Public Schools; and Sara Peterson, Director of Community Engagement and Agape Ministry Coordinator at First Lutheran Church.
| | COMPASS Impact Day – Event Update | | | | |
We’ve made the difficult decision to cancel COMPASS Impact Day scheduled for October 1.
| | | |
While COMPASS Young Professionals coordinated the event, all Chamber members were invited to participate in this day of service. As we prepared, we were not able to identify enough service projects to create the community impact and volunteer experience we had envisioned.
Rather than move forward with a limited number of projects, we’ve decided to regroup and look at how we can make Impact Day even stronger in the future.
We continue to love the idea behind Impact Day - bringing Chamber members together to make a difference, build connections and strengthen our community - and hope to revisit the event in the future.
Thank you to everyone who signed up, offered support and helped with planning, including our generous lunch sponsors. We appreciate your willingness to make an impact!

| | Minnesota Job Growth Slows as Workforce Challenges Continue | | |
Minnesota’s job market remained relatively flat in August, while unemployment increased to 4.4%, matching the national rate. The state’s labor force participation rate also continued to decline, falling to 66.9% from 68.1% a year earlier.
State officials pointed to two factors contributing to Minnesota’s workforce challenge: an aging population and a slowdown in the arrival of new workers. For employers, those demographic pressures reinforce the importance of attracting, developing and retaining workers as the available labor pool continues to tighten.
The longer-term economic picture shows continued growth. Minnesota added more than 45,000 jobs over the past year, while exports increased 14% in the second quarter compared with the same period in 2025.
For businesses, the latest numbers highlight a challenge we’ll continue to watch: economic growth requires people to fill the jobs being created.

Another new business
to celebrate! 🎉
The Chamber Ambassadors recently celebrated Jo Rose Ann Boutique with a ribbon cutting and First Dollar of Profit presentation!
| | | |
Jo Rose Ann Boutique offers a wide assortment of women’s clothing, including, tanks, shorts, sweatshirts, hats and more. Men’s clothing includes golf shirts, shorts and hats. It’s another great shopping option to discover right here in our region.
As a regional Chamber, we’re glad to celebrate new businesses and the entrepreneurs who invest in our communities, bring new products and services to the area, and add to the places residents and visitors can shop and explore.
Congratulations to Jo Rose Ann Boutique - and be sure to stop in and see what they have to offer!
