Leadership Minnesota Tours Marshall

Leadership Minnesota tours Marshall; local businesses
showcased in Minnesota Chamber visit

St. Paul, MN (05/09/18): Local companies representative of Minnesota's premier entrepreneurs opened their facilities and shared their success stories with Leadership Minnesota participants during their annual alumni event May 9 in Marshall.

Leadership Minnesota is an exclusive program of the Minnesota Chamber that offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at what makes the state's economy tick and provides an understanding of how public policy crafted at the Capitol impacts the vitality of all Minnesota businesses.

Mayor Robert Byrnes and Brad Gruhot, president of the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce, welcomed more than 70 alumni, who then had a personal audience with leadership of local companies. They heard the home-grown success stories of Runnings, Ralco, Action Trackchair and Schwan's Co. Luncheon speaker Mary Maertens, regional president and chief executive officer of Avera Health Marshall, shared the story of innovation in rural health care. The group also had the opportunity to spend their evening at tru Shrimp in Balaton as well as observe training demonstrations for law enforcement at the state-of-the-art MERIT Center.

"At its core, Leadership Minnesota is an opportunity to see and learn what makes Minnesota thrive - and to hear it from individuals at the ground level," Minnesota Chamber President Doug Loon said. "Each industry has its distinctive challenges. At the same time, companies - all types, all sizes across the state - face common hurdles."

Loon thanked the Marshall Area Chamber and the city, as well as the companies that opened their doors, for their hospitality. "Innovation remains a strength of our homegrown economy," he said. "We saw firsthand today some shining examples of the entrepreneurial spirit that drives our state's quality of life."

The Minnesota Chamber is a statewide organization representing more than 2,300 businesses of all types and sizes - and more than half a million employees - throughout Minnesota. The Chamber works tirelessly for its members; providing one-on-one business services, opportunities to grow their networks and knowledge base, and cultivating an economic environment where businesses stay and grow in our state. A business climate that allows for innovation and forward-thinking leadership will help grow the strength of Minnesota's economy for generations to come.

Need your VOTE! Our Courts, Our Future

This summer, the Minnesota Timberwolves will travel across the state of Minnesota to help neighborhoods take their love of basketball outdoors with the 'Our Courts. Our Future.' program, presented by U.S. Bank. Four courts will be selected from the nominations received from you, the fans.

The Marshall community has a court you can vote for in the South Region. The court is located at Independence Park. Let's get out and vote to help get our court selected!

You can vote for only one court per region per day and voting closes on Friday, May 24th at 11:59pm CST.
