SMSU Receives Investment in School of Business from North Star Mutual | |
(COTTONWOOD, MN – Feb. 2, 2023) North Star Mutual Insurance Company, of Cottonwood, Minnesota, has announced plans to invest $3 million in the Southwest Minnesota State University Foundation to establish the North Star Mutual School of Business and scholarship program. The investment, to be paid over the course of five years, will be used to enhance the current school of business, facilities and programs at SMSU, as well as fund an endowment to provide ongoing support.
In addition, new scholarship and internship programs will be established on behalf of the company to help support business students in their academic endeavors and career development. North Star Mutual will receive naming rights to the business school and maintain a role on a special advisory committee made up of both school faculty and local business representatives...

Chamber E-Connection Guidelines and Policies | |
Newsletter Goals and Audience
The purpose of the Chamber E-Connection newsletter is to share our members' events with other business and community members. It is an informational newsletter and helps to promote our member businesses and their events. Each Friday, our newsletter is sent to over 1,600 individuals. Our separate emails are sent to the same list, but are held especially for our Chamber events and Business After Hours.
Newsletter Policy
E-Connection events are included based on requests from the member business. The following criteria are
requested by the Marshall Area Chamber for event submissions:
- Events flyers or submissions must be an actual event. We do not include sales or promotions.
- Events can be included in the E-Connection for one week free of charge, and you have the option of adding one additional week for $20.

Submissions must be sent the Wednesday prior to that Friday's E-Connection to be included email chamber@marshallmn.org
- All event flyers are for Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce members only.
