Chamber Supports Digital Signage to Boost City Revenue

The Chamber voiced support for the City’s proposal to modernize outdated billboards through the introduction of new digital signage. This initiative builds on recent Council actions to expand digital and supergraphic signage across San Jose. Chamber member Clear Channel was awarded part of the contract. The signage is expected to generate at least $21 million in guaranteed revenue for the City and includes provisions such as emergency PSA capabilities, 100% renewable energy usage, and reduced operating hours between midnight and 6 a.m.

City Approves 2026 Major Event Zone Ordinance

The San Jose City Council unanimously approved the 2026 Major Event Zone Ordinance—an important step in preparing to host the Super Bowl, NCAA Regionals, and FIFA World Cup. As a leading voice for the development of San Jose’s sports and entertainment economy, the Chamber strongly supports this strategic policy. The ordinance creates a flexible framework to ensure public safety, maintain access, and enable business and vendor participation during major events. It also aligns with the Chamber’s broader efforts to drive long-term economic growth across the sports and entertainment economy citywide.
