Instead of gridlock, let's make progress in a literally unique Minnesota
The election, and seemingly nonstop ads, are over. Now leaders from every ideology and every part of our state need to come together to consider how to make Minnesota stronger and more competitive, before the legislative session begins in January. Minneapolis Regional Chamber President and CEO Jonathan Weinhagen provides advice to Governor-elect Tim Walz and DFL-led House/GOP-led Senate in a Star Tribune op-ed.

Twin Cities transit advocates saw a lot to like in election results
From the governor's office to the Minnesota House and the U.S. Congress, a slate of new leaders could plug a deficit at Metro Transit, fund light-rail lines and pump more money into local rapid bus improvements. A statement from the Minneapolis Regional Chamber CEO in response to SWLRT
The announcement from the FTA is good news for commuters, employees, and employers in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Moving forward with the Southwest Light Rail (SWLRT) Project means thousands of Minnesotans will have access to additional jobs across our region. Right now, 40 percent of employees in downtown Minneapolis get to work using transit, relieving pressure on our roadways and making our city a more attractive place for businesses. That number will certainly grow when SWLRT is in place.

A recent survey we conducted found that 58 percent of Minnesotans want to use transit more frequently and 74 percent support making additional investments in transit. We need to keep moving forward with comprehensive transportation solutions in our state to increase access to jobs and attract future workers, many of whom don't want to use a car.
Minneapolis neighbors gather for latest chance to weigh in on 2040 Comprehensive Plan
Minneapolis’ long term plan passed another important hurdle this week. We can plan a stronger environment for businesses and residents and the Minneapolis Regional Chamber thanks the staff and leaders of the city of Minneapolis for all of the work they have done to put all of this together.

Moving people and goods around is essential to our regional and national economic competitiveness.
