A Letter From The President
It’s August and you know what that means — things are starting to really heat up at the Lee’s Summit Chamber!
Through collaboration with the LSR-7 school district, the Chamber welcomes 140+ new teachers at our New Teacher Breakfast. This has been a proud yearly Chamber tradition, and it shows the great support the school district and the Chamber has for our teachers and the community.
The month of August is also when the Chamber hosts the annual State of the City Address with Mayor Bill Baird. The mayor will discuss many highlights including the city’s growth and development during his time at the helm. This year it’s extra special, as the address will be in conjunction with the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Green Street project! The much-anticipated Green Street market and pavilion is a state-of-the-art venue space that will play host to the City’s farmers market and many future events. Be on the lookout for other Chamber gatherings that will be hosted at this fantastic venue!
The Chamber’s monthly luncheon in August will highlight the latest updates on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Kansas City from guest speaker Tracy Whelpley, Director of Regional Impact for KC2026, a nonprofit organization overseeing strategy and delivering host city duties for FIFA World Cup 26. KC2026 will plan, construct and implement all aspects of Kansas City’s largest sports and fan engagement event in the region’s history. It's a can't-miss afternoon.
Lastly, I can’t forget to mention our largest Chamber event of the year, Oktoberfest! We have a record number of high-end craft vendors to peruse, the Home Brew Competition to experience and enjoy, the Wagon Parade, the delicious German meals, German dancing and all the beverages you could want! We can’t do it without the help of our volunteers, so please consider signing up your company and co-workers to come experience the festival firsthand!
