Chamber Magazine Digital Update | May 02, 2019
A Disney Adventure!
This month, I can only smile. Of course, that could be the result of earning my Mickey Mouse ears! Yes, it is true – we hosted presenters from Disney Institute and 120 of our Chamber members for a one-day workshop “Disney’s Approach to Business Excellence” where Ed, Roxie and I all earned our “ears”!
The content was a broad approach highlighting customer service, leadership excellence, employee engagement, quality service and continuous improvement.

One of the recurring themes throughout the day was intentionality. We can become so buried under a pile of tasks, meetings and expectations that it is easy to allow ourselves to be consumed. We don’t step back, analyze and make intentional decisions/actions often enough.

“Guests often refer to their experience in our parks and resorts as ‘Disney magic.’ Yet, it’s not the ‘magic’ that makes it work – it’s the method. It’s a deliberate process that is continuously reinforced by leaders and peers alike, and the result of this is more than a loyal and happy guest, it’s a loyal and happy (employee) as well.” – George Kalogridis, President Walt Disney World ® Resort

What does your organization look like when you take time to be intentional?
Our Chamber board and staff often attempt to be intentional – amid the chaos – with what we offer our members.

In the past year, we have been pleased to host Google Get Your Business Online and Disney Institute. Both sessions – while widely different in their purpose – gave our area businesses access to these world-class trainings here in Wayne County for the first time.

Thank you for being a member of the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce. Together, we are intentionally growing an outstanding community!

- Melissa Vance, Chamber President/CEO
What's Next?
We are now rolling out another “first” – the opportunity to travel with the Chamber to China at an affordable cost. Guests can travel for pleasure along with their friends and families, or they can choose to make business connections with the assistance of our vendor, Citslinc.
The trip is scheduled for April 2020. More information can be found on our website . We also invite you to attend an informational meeting June 12th at 5:30 p.m. There is no cost or obligation, but please RSVP, so we know how many to expect.
Perfect Attendance equals Big Prizes!
On May 15th the Chamber, First Bank Richmond and Wetzel Auto will be celebrating high school seniors with perfect attendance at Wetzel Chevy Auto at 6pm!

Each graduating senior will have the chance to win prizes of $50 value or more.
The last standing senior will walk away with a car OR scholarship from our sponsors! This year we are excited to recognize one senior, Preston Gault (Seton High School) who has had perfect attendance since kindergarten!

We will also be awarding the School Is Cool Traveling Trophy to the school with the highest increase in perfect attendance since last year! Student registration begins at 6pm and the drawing will begin at 6:30pm! We hope to see you there!
It's Almost Tee Time!
The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to grow its annual golf classic this year to include two shotgun starts for players!

Join us on June 7th at Forest Hills Country Club for a great day on the course.
This golf classic is one of the biggest in Wayne County and we are excited about the additional opportunities for sponsors to market their products and services to our participants.

If your business is excited to sponsor this year’s classic, there are still a few unique sponsorships left! We are looking for a Food Court Sponsor, a Winner’s Circle Sponsor and have many Hole Sponsors left for 2019. Each opportunity provides you with the chance to network, engage and promote your business! Golfers will also receive a gift from our Gift Sponsor, Sugarcreek, along with the chance to buy raffle tickets to support School Is Cool. Email Roxie at for more information.

This event would not be possible without the generous support of our ACE’s (Awards, Celebration and Events) committee and our numerous sponsors! We would like to give special recognition to our Tournament Sponsors, First Bank Richmond and West End Bank for their generous support!
