March 24th is Palm Sunday and the American Legion Band will be playing at the service at 11:00 am


March 28 Maundy Thursday Service at 7:30 on March 28th. This is a very moving service 



Thai Chi Class - Every Tuesday at 11am held in the Church Annex. Rev. Dr. Gary Cecil is certified and teaches the class. Wear comfortable clothing.



First Presbyterian Church of Salem offers a handicapped accessible elevator to reach the sanctuary. Parking is available on street or in the lot behind the Church.

The demographics in Salem County are changing and we’re working to make sure our Members are best prepared. This two part series will highlight census data, trends and strategies for targeting the demographic fluctuations.

Appel Farm Arts & Music Center is excited to present South Jersey Arts Fest 2024 on Saturday, April 27th from 11am - 3pm.

 

South Jersey Arts Fest will welcome more than 500 people from the South Jersey region to the Appel Farm campus to experience the talents of our local artists and celebrate the joy of artmaking. Please join us!

 

We invite you to come and ignite your imagination through art activities for all ages. Enjoy live music by local bands Seems Like Tuesday, The Melodymakers, and Lost Romance on our Grove Stage. Support local artisans and craft vendors at our vendor fair and sample a bite from your choice of local food trucks. Round out your Arts Fest experience with a crafted beverage from Lost Elephant Brewing Company or Pine Tavern Distillery.

And for something extra special - we will also celebrate the very talented student artists who participated in the South Jersey Art Region Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards as part of the festival! Guests are welcome to stroll the grounds and take in a pop-up art gallery featuring their work, and sit in on the Scholastic Award Ceremony in our theater at 2pm (ceremony seating subject to availability).

SCC Glass Education Center

April 28th Open House, Workshops, & Glass Sale

Salem Community College welcomes the public to the Glass Education Center on Sunday, April 28th, for an Open House Event. Admission to the Glass Education Center and the sale is free. While visiting the center, guests may take a tour of SCC's incredible glass studio and see glassmaking in action!

The SCC's Glass Club's April sale will feature handmade glass items including ornaments, flowers, jewelry, vases, and paperweights from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students from the club will be performing demonstrations in the glassblowing studio from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visitors are welcome to observe the workshops as well that are running throughout the studio from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors will have the opportunity to check out SCC’s permanent glass collections, filled with incredible contemporary works from around the globe; and will also have the opportunity to view our current gallery exhibition of works created by SCC students in a variety of mediums.

 

On April 28th, the glass center will be running several hands-on workshops. No glass experience is necessary, but please note minimum age requirements. Additional workshop information is listed below. Registration available at www.salemcc.edu/glass/experience.

Fused Glass Windchime

1.5 hour session from 12:30pm-2:00pm, or 2:30pm-4:00pm 

$60.00 per person

Participants will create their own beautiful fused glass windchime by layering pieces of flat glass and enamels that will be heated and fused together in a kiln. Ages 4 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Due to the process, items will need to be picked up at a later date, or can be shipped for an additional fee.

Flameworked Glass Pendants

3 hour session from 1:00 to 4:00pm

$60.00 per person

Spend a full three hours in our flameworking studio using glass, heat, gravity and simple tools to create your very own glass pendants (hanging focal beads) at the torch! Each participant will have enough time for multiple beads! Ages 10 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Hot Glass Paperweight

1.5 hour sessions between 12:00pm-1:30pm, or 2:30pm-4pm

$75.00 per person

Participants will create a beautiful glass paperweight from the furnace in our glassblowing studio! Ages 14 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Due to the process, items will need to be picked up at a later date, or can be shipped for an additional fee.
