Chillicothe (Wednesday, May 1, 2019) - As work to repair a slip on state Route 335 in Pike County progresses, the route remains closed at the 16.0-mile marker, and the closure will be in effect through mid-May.
S.R. 335 has been closed between Township Road 520 (Walkers Ridge Road) and County Road 56 (Carrs Run Road), eight miles north of Beaver, where a previously-installed lagging wall below the shoulder of the route has failed and a section of the pavement has dropped considerably.
Since closing the route April 18, crews from ODOT District 9's Lo-Drill team and the Pike County maintenance facility removed the old piling, and they are now working to install 60 new drilled shafts and rebuild the retaining wall. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the installation of the new shafts should be completed in the coming week, and following this, the crews will re-grade and pave the roadway.
Currently, it is anticipated that the route will be closed through Friday, May 17; however, it will remain closed until all work is completed. While S.R. 335 is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 23 and S.R. 32.
In a separate slip repair project, crews are wrapping up work on S.R. 104 in Scioto County, where the route has been closed this week during daytime, working hours just south of T.R. 142 (McDermott-Rushtown Road).
The route was scheduled to be closed through Friday, May 3; however, operations wrapped up today, May 1, and the route is now open to traffic. Any additional work to be completed through the remainder of the week will be done with the route open to traffic and traffic maintained by flaggers.
