Whataburger restaurants are now testing online ordering through an app available for your smartphone. The app allows you to save your favorite orders, as well as earn free food after five visits. More information can be found at

The Texas Department of Public Safety has announced new Facebook and Twitter sites providing information by region across the state. The regions include North Texas, Southeast Texas, South Texas, West Texas, Northwest Texas, Central Texas and the Capitol Region. This expanded social media network will complement the existing DPS social media channels (Facebook and Twitter) and further connect the department with local communities.
Advertising space is available for Chamber members in the newly-released Member Directory & Newcomers Guide, found online at The guide is updated throughout the year and features information of primary interest to area visitors and new residents. All Chamber members are listed by category.

In addition to books by local authors available at the Chamber office in Liberty (listed in our October 2018 newsletter) we also have Chamber Gift Certificates, redeemable at participating Chamber member merchants. They are like cash, but must be used within participating stores in the Liberty-Dayton area. Member merchants can then redeem them at the Chamber. Five percent of the face value of the certificate is retained by the Chamber for maintaining the program, and the merchant receives the remainder by check.

We also have several bottles of olive oil from local producer and Chamber member Southeast Texas Olive, LLC ( in Devers. This is a high quality, 100% organic extra virgin olive oil that sells for $15 per bottle (8.5oz) or $140 per case.

First Texas Volunteers (FTV) in cooperation with Battleship Texas Foundation (BTF) and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) will host a very special unique guided behind the scenes “Hard Hat Tour” aboard the ship, Saturday, December 15th, 2018. More information can be found at their site below.

Dr. Wilson 1920 - 2018
Dr. Claxton Reginald Wilson passed away Tuesday, November 13 at Methodist Hospital in Baytown. Dr. Wilson was well-known from his medical practice in the area, and his involvement in several medical organizations. He served on the Dayton City Council, Dayton ISD School Board, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Dr. Wilson was selected as the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1981. Services for Dr. Wilson were held Saturday, November 17 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

  • Coffee with the Mayor. Held the third Thursday of each month (except for holidays or conflicting events). Citizens of Liberty are invited to have coffee with Mayor Carl Pickett and City Manager Tom Warner in the council chambers of City Hall. This is an opportunity to discuss ideas or projects or to voice any concerns citizens may wish to express. 936.336.3684.
