Chamber News for June 2019

1829 Sam Houston Street | 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Entergy Texas is proud to be the sponsor of this month's business luncheon. Please join us as we discuss the latest happenings at Entergy, and new advancements to help Entergy customers and modernize the electric grid.

Chicken Fettucini with salad, garlic bread, assorted desserts, tea and water.

Cost: $12
Entergy representatives will present a program of interest to all households and businesses who receive power from the company. Meters, energy efficiency, lighting and grants will be discussed. This info will apply to some Liberty customers, as well as customers in Ames, Devers, Dayton, Hardin, Daisetta and a few in Huffman. Entergy Texas, Inc. provides electricity to approximately 458,000 customers in 27 counties and delivers electricity to 2.9 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

Starting this year, customers will begin to see advanced meters installed at their homes and businesses with projected completion in 2021. According to Entergy, “the deployment of advanced meters will upgrade our systems with new technology that will provide our customers greater benefits and control”.

Advanced metering is digital technology that enables secure two-way communication between the customer and Entergy Texas. Each meter is equipped with a network radio. The radio transmits meter readings to the electric network access point, housed on an electric pole near the meter. This data is then transmitted to the utility through a secure cellular network. Shortly after a customer’s meter is installed, they may access their online account to view daily energy use, displayed in 15-minute increments. Energy use information is updated online to the online account every 4-5 hours.

Visit energyfuturetexas.com to learn more and view the installation schedule.
To provide an accurate head count for the caterer, please register for the luncheon as soon as possible in one of three ways:

  • Via telephone at 936.336.5736.

  • Everyone who volunteered their time and talents behind the microphone (see list way down below).
  • To Dhanish and Hyder at Domino's (Dayton & Liberty) for providing the ten pizzas.
  • Bill Buchanan and Paul Henry for the prizes given for trivia questions.
