LIBERTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT APPROVES DOWNTOWN FACADE GRANT PROGRAM
Submitted by Chris Jarmon, CPM
Assistant City Manager - Economic & Community Development
City of Liberty, TX

On Tuesday July 16, the Liberty Community Development Corporation (LCDC) approved the creation of a downtown façade improvement grant program. The program would be available to any commercial business located in downtown Liberty, TX, which is defined as the area between MLK and Grand and between Milam and San Jacinto.

The program would provide for reimbursement of 50% of expenses up to a max of $20,000 related to improvements to a business’s façade. Eligible expenses include improvements to landscaping, porches, signage, windows, doors, awnings, lighting, painting, and other improvements. Interior renovations, payroll expenses, and equipment or machinery used in the business would not be eligible expenses under this program.

To apply, a business needs to submit an application and associated documentation to LCDC. All applications must be approved by LCDC prior to beginning any work for improvements that are to be reimbursed under this program.

Please call 936-334-7118 to request a copy of the downtown façade improvement program guidelines and application. To learn more about the Liberty Community Development Corporation, please visit them online here: www.cityofliberty.org/liberty-community-development-corporation.
