80 YEARS OF HEALING CEREMONY TOMORROW
Wednesday March 30 at 11am

Nidoto Nai Yoni/Let it Not Happen Again
Survivors and guest speakers (including Gov. Jay Inslee will come together on Bainbridge to commemorate 80 Years of Healing at the National Japanese American Exclusion– a day that marks the very first displacement of Japanese American citizens as a result of President Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066.
Ken Matsudaira will be reading the 276 names on the memorial wall while Rev. Senji Kanaeda rings the gong after each name.
The ceremony will begin at 11am at the Bainbridge Island Japanese Exclusion Memorial, and also be webcasted live on Facebook by the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Community.

2022 GO4 POSTER CONTEST OPENS FOR YOUNG ISLAND CREATIVE ARTISTS
|
The Chamber and Bainbridge Youth Services are excited to invite all current elementary, middle and high school students of Bainbridge Island to enter their designs for the 2022 GO4 Poster.
The creator of the winning entry will receive a $500 cash prize to support their artistic endeavors, courtesy of a generous sponsorship by Chamber Champions Puget Sound Energy.

SALES TAX INCREASES BY 0.1% COUNTYWIDE ON APRIL 1
|
Business owners - Remember that Kitsap County sales tax increases on Friday to 9.2 cents for every dollar.
The increase was approved in January to help raise funds for affordable housing and housing services for those making below 60% of the area median income (which was $79,624 in 2021).

With a forehand stroke (of a pen) in the backyard of the Island home credited as its birthplace, Gov. Jay Inslee just made pickleball our State’s official sport ( SB 5615).
Invented by resident Frank Pritchard’s father and two other friends in 1965, Pickleball is also officially now the fastest-growing sport in the world - loved, respected and enjoyed for its ease of playability for players of all ages.

COUNCIL ADOPTS SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION PLAN'S CONNECTING CENTERS OPTION
|
The second scenario identified by the Sustainable Transportation Plan Committee calls for $31 million invested over 6 years to connect all the island’s business centers so they can be accessed by everyone in multiple ways.

HUGE VISIT BAINBRIDGE ISLAND AD TO DEBUT FRIDAY AT SEATAC
|
Visit Bainbridge, the Island's official destination marketing organization (DMO) recently was the winner of a coveted ad space grant at SeaTac Airport.
Starting on Friday, you can see the design displayed here at Gate D2 through the end of June.
The 10th busiest airport in North America, in 2021 SeaTac itself was visited by 36.2 million passengers.

As a special edition of our County-wide surveys, this week the Bainbridge Chamber asks all local business owners to give feedback to the State Chamber (The Association of Washington Business, or AWB)
The survey is anonymous and employers are not identified.

Healing Path Craniosacral was born out of Susanne Ashland's desire to work from the inside out, with the intelligence in the body.
Her craniosacral work is both a precise, exact form of therapy, and a surprising, magical form of healing.
Susanne opened her new Bainbridge Island office after moving here in June 2020. She is grateful to find herself living on the island and on land her family has been on since 1967.
