BAINBRIDGE GEARS UP TO SHOW SOME PRIDE
The past couple of pandemic Junes may have been awash in grey, but take heart fellow islanders, PRIDE is back in a BIG way on Bainbridge!

Commemorating the Stonewall Riots in New York and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, June is internationally recognized as Pride History Month, but here in Kitsap there are celebrations throughout the summer:

And if you’re an LGBTQ+, business owned by people of color, and/or a woman-owned small business in urban or rural communities, consider applying for the GSBA Ready for Business Fund.

The fund opens for its next round on June 12 with up to $2,500 per business available in grants and support services.

FUNNY BUSINESS RETURNS TO THE HOMETOWN PARADE
The Grand Old 4th is back, the Parade is back, and so, we are pleased to announce, is the Buxton Humor Award.

Created in 2013 by long-time parade announcers Frank Buxton and John Ellis as part their mission to keep things fun, the Buxton Award offers a $1,000 prize for the most humorous entry.

If won by a nonprofit, they keep the money. If won by a for-profit entry, the check goes to the local nonprofit of their choice...

COMING SOON: MIGUELITOS #2, FORGE COFFEE, SISTER's CIDER HOUSE
Summer is almost here, and some new restaurants and drinking establishments are racing around the clock to be ready to meet it...

Miguel Rojas and his team at Miguelitos Cocina Mexicana are dishing up some tasty news with the opening of a second location at Lynwood Center, in the former Heyday Farm store location, while also going mobile with a long-in-the-making new food truck.

In other delicious news, Forge Coffee is slated to open soon in the old Virginia Mason Clinic building at 380 Winslow Way. That space will now also include local favorites L’Atelier TR (moving from its current location on Three Tree Lane) and a new Winslow tasting room for the Eagle Harbor Winery.

Up at Hildebrand, skee ball, 8-bit gaming consoles and production gear is going in at the new Sister’s Cider House - opening soon just South of Homestreet Bank.

Exact opening dates are just emerging for all three locations, so stay tuned for updates...
