COUNTY KICKS OFF COMP PLAN UPDATE, ASKS FOR PUBLIC INPUT
|
To better establish direction for future land use, environmental standards, housing, transportation and services, Kitsap County wants to hear from you as it prepares for it's 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update.
Submit your ideas and proposals to code amendments between June 6 and Aug. 18. Proposals will be reviewed for potential inclusion by Dec. 31, 2024.

CHAMBER’S ISLAND BUSINESS AMBASSADORS PROGRAM RENEWED FOR 2022
|
Dear hospitality business owners - friendly faces are on the way!
Started last year as joint effort between the Chamber, the Downtown Association, Zero Waste Bainbridge and COBI, the Business Ambassador program is here to help businesses and organizations prepare for the city's current and upcoming waste reduction policies.
The teams of 2 are heading out to all impacted businesses this week and will provide feedback to the city from the business community on ease of implementation or any related waste reduction ordinance concerns that need to be addressed.

CHAMBER RENOVATION PROJECT COMPLETE!

After almost a year of hard work from a coalition of more than 15 local businesses and community organizations, both the Chamber offices on Winslow Way, and the Information Kiosk at the Ferry Terminal have been fully updated.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO BE A PART OF THE WORK READY BAINBRIDGE PILOT PROGRAM

The Chamber and Bainbridge Youth Services have joined forces to create a new eight-week summer employment and workforce certification program connecting local youth employees (ages 16-24) with employers and the local business/nonprofit community on Bainbridge Island.
Launching as a pilot program to provide motivated local candidates with meaningful summer work in our community, there are 10 initial slots available for 2022.
Applications are due today, May 31, for both employers and employees...

LAST CALL FOR REBATES: CASH SUBSIDIES AVAILABLE TO BAINBRIDGE RESTAURANTS THAT REMOVE SINGLE-USE PLASTIC SERVICEWARE
|
West Coast nonprofit, Plastic Free Restaurants still stands ready to reimburse restaurant owners with up to $5/piece for replacing single-use plastics with reusable metal, ceramic etc dishes/utensils but only until midnight tonight - May 31, 2022.
To-date, PFR has eliminated more than 2.6 million pieces of single-use plastics from the waste stream and they are offering to help Island business owners do the same.
It is a simple, easy process, one that is outlined further in a recent article in The Island Wanderer.

PARKS FOUNDATION EXPANDS ITS NAME TO INCLUDE TRAILS
|
Now know as the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation, the rebrand solidifies its leadership and highlights the foundation’s work in both the development of parks and trails on the island.
“Public trails are at the nexus of outdoor recreation, community health, sustainability and climate resilience. Adding ‘trails’ to our name affirms our commitment to an island where ample trails link neighborhoods, parks, schools, culture and commerce, open and accessible to all.”
Mary Meier, Executive Director, Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation
Chartered in 1998 as a small community grant maker, the foundation has expanded rapidly and secured 21 trail easements in helping build out a 42-mile long Island public trails network.
